Is Jon Jones fighting Aspinall a win/win situation for Jones? Or is it more like a lose/lose situation for Jones?

I'm just curious what you guys think.

Does it affect Jones legacy significantly at all?

Will losing to Aspinall, takes a few notches off his legacy or doesn't change it at all?

And beating Aspinall, will that increase his legacy?

For all we know Aspinall could have Gane level TDD and trash cardio. So if Jon were to dominate him, then Aspinall proceeds to get wrestlefucked by Jailton in his next fight, beating Aspinall won't do very much for his legacy imo.

It'd just seem like he waited for all the tough matchups to leave before deciding to try one of the weakest divisions in the modern era.

I think it's win/win even if he loses. His legacy will show that he defended against the no1 contender who was younger, bigger and faster than him.

Beating Gane and Stipe does nothing for his legacy if his stint at heavyweight was basically ducking Francis and Tom.

Lose/ lose. The fans that hate him now will never like him or see him as goat and the win does absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things.

The worst situation for Jon is not to fight him.

That will always be a stain on his legacy worse than fighting and losing.

in the bigger picture there just isnt much to gain for jon. this is a fight entirely for tom. jon was right to say he wanted to vacate and fight someone with legit accolades. toms great but tom hasn't earned the number 1 fight in the ufc. thats just how i see it.

It's not a risk about legacy it's a risk to get phisicaly hurt. Fighters care about their health more than the fans think they do. Jon is smart and very aware of it. Tom can hurt him seriously.

What does it mean? win-win, lose-lose means two sides
It's a win-lose situation for Jones. If he wins, he will have beaten 2 of the best HWs of the current generation. If he loses, he has beaten a grandpa and a one-dimensional fighter at HW

Aspinal is the future of HW. He really sticks out if you put him in there with anyone. He's not perfect though. His first loss to Blaydes wasn't some epic misfortune

And I think Jones can best him. Same other way around

But who has Jones really challenged himself with? Bader, DC, Gus. He's entered so many fights with age advantage. If he does the fight he will get my respect, if he wins he will go down as the best

Well he still gets my respect. Despite his failed tests and conduct his record speaks for itself. Even if he doesn't fight he will go down as one of the best to do it. The ball is in his court

It’s always a lose lose at this point. If he wins, Tom faced no real competition and he had no really impressive wins, and if he loses, he loses. Even though it’s a lose lose, he should stop holding up the belt and make a decision to defend or not.

The "lose" is basically a win in that he doesn't really lose like someone normally would. His position is pretty untouchable at this point and most people would write off a loss like this, at this age and a different division, let alone the opponent
