Social ICE/deportation protests and riots megathread

Nothing says, "Hey I am a peaceful protestor fighting for Immigration rights so I can stay here" like robbing and looting an apple and Nike store. Besides maybe destroying cars and standing on them waving Mexican flags, while having an ankle monitor on from probation.

If I accuse someone in particular of that I try to back it up with references to their posts but in a lot of those threads I was speaking generally.

No one denies that but the type of centrist I'm talking about assumes that because they're taking a centrist stance they must be correct. Sometimes though one side is right and one side is wrong. In Venezuela you can't say "both sides are equally bad" when the left over there are socialists who drove the country into the ground while the right wing opposition are merely liberals who don't want everything nationalized.

Yes and not only do I do so, I have in fact I've disagreed with both of the posters you originally tagged me with, deviake and KAZSoliloquy, in the same thread. Can you see from my POV how the fact that you lumped me in with two leftists who I've had vehement disagreements with might suggest that your impression of me is off base?
Since you put it that way, I definitely apologize. Oh my.

I appreciate the honest response.

But are you not genuinely worried about the partisan nature of the event? One of the big things they drilled into us, is that we have a sworn duty to not engage in politics. That was taken seriously. If you so much as wore a shirt with a candidates name on it, you're getting stopped by the first person who saw you and get your ass handed to you.

With that being said, isn't it kinda hard to ignore the partisan optics of this? We just had the current president on stage yesterday, in front of a crowd of "soldiers," shit talking the former president. Now he wants to hold a military parade on his birthday, bragging that he'll crush any protestors who ruin his day. And we're supposed to believe this is just a totally neutral thank you to the Armed Forces in general?
The country routinely celebrates big anniversaries, like our bicentennial, so I don't really see the issue here. Whatever partisan politics people are seeing will be gone in a few years, but we will always have footage of the Army being celebrated for its 250th birthday. I don't find patriotism cringey. Could the money be more effective elsewhere? Sure, but you could always say that. We send billions to other countries without a dime in return, so I have no problem with money going towards this. We shouldn't put a price tag on celebrating the people who defend our country.

I'm just saying, if you really wanted to thank the people that served, I think you could start with rehiring all the people at the VA who got fired for no reason. You could literally do that with just the money saved from this parade. More veterans will be thankful for America fulfilling it's oath, than a tacky dog-and-pony show that trump think will make him look more like Putin.
I'd rather Trump not tie his birthday into the parade, but Trump is gonna Trump. It's not going to take away from the importance of the event for me. Like I said, I don't doubt that you and many you served with think there is no need for it. But plenty of people who did serve do, along with millions of appreciative citizens.

If they didn’t steal the election, Trump would be gone already. Now he gets the 250 anniversary, the World Cup, and the Olympics lol

Is the there a "No Kings" protest near you this Sat?
There will be one very close to my work..... sheesh

The media trying so hard to prop up the democrats here, but there are too many voices that are trusted more than the mainstream media speaking out against their gaslighting. Jillian Michaels a fitness guru, lesbian, disillusioned liberal, but even someone like her has had enough. You love to see it

Well those former presidents didn't cause riots while doing it as sitting presidents <Y2JSmirk>

More of a freedom kinda guy myself.

I'll let you do it bootlicker.

Freedom doesn't mean stupid.

Like the weather reporter that stands out in the middle of a hurricane then gets hit by a flying branch. I got little sympathy and no surprise at it.

{<huh}Aren't you watching the news and how this shit is being handled, bruh?

Being handled? You mean the moment ICE enters any of these cities, the democrats organize and fund protests that turn into riots? While telling people to fight

Why didn’t they do this with Obama and Clinton?

You can be as into freedom as you want but once a riot breaks out and the police go into riot control mode , you are totally putting yourself in harms way for ratings and in danger no matter how you want to frame it. You are free to continue to cover the riot and you won't get sent to a gulag but you might get hurt.

Border enforcement nor riot enforcement signals an end to living in a free country either. It's just law enforcement.

There's a rather long precedent of America staying a free country and doing what it's gotta do in times of crisis.
