Where are all the know it alls that thought Tom would beat Francis?

We weren’t talking defense, we were talking boxing. You’re moving the goalposts because the information doesn’t fit your narrative.

And lol at “my boy.” You think because you’re a fanboy anybody disagreeing with you must be too. I never suggested Aspinall beats Francis, just that your reasoning is stupid. Which it still is and you’ve done nothing to dispel that.

We were talking about boxing, and I said over and over from the get go that Tom has major defensive holes that will cost him against a superior boxer and hitter like Francis. Not a complicated line of reasoning. How is that moving the goal post? The fact he was such an easy target for Gane's jab only strengthens this argument. Nothing you've said dispels that.

Francis literally barely scraped by Gane. The fight with Tom vs Gane didn't have a definitive winner because Gane is a retard.

I am truly not sure why this thread even exists as it doesn't make sense lol

You’re not looking at the entire picture and disregarding information that doesn’t match up with your admitted preconceived conclusion.

^^^^^^^^ This guy gets it

It's also worth noting that maybe Gane has finally made significant improvements in his TDD and anti-wrestling. It was terrible against Ngannou. It's quite possible Tom could've just taken down and submitted or LnP'd the version of Gane who fought Ngannou. So anyone comparing Tom's fight with Ngannou's needs to take that into account.

Of course Tom-Gane was less than 5 minutes so people are extrapolating way too much from it.
Gane had been a pro mma fighter for 3 and a half years when he fought Ngannou. He literally has twice the experience now. So it’s a poor comparison to begin with.

Testing. 1, 2.

Disregard. I only replied in a thread to see if I got banned or double yellowed. Don't ask me why.

Not really. Some fighters never improve their weaknesses even after a decade. For example, the Diaz brothers never learned to check leg kicks or stuff TDs. They always relied on their boxing, cardio and hoping they'd submit someone on the ground if they got taken down.

Rampage is another example. After his first few years, he didn't work on anything but boxing. His TDD was no better in 2010 than it was in 2005. It may have been worse, even though he wasn't that old (32 in 2010 when Rashad easily outwrestled him).

I wasn’t speaking to a specific skill but rather to overall game. 3.5 years in MMA isn’t much. It’s reasonable to assume a guy doubling his experience and having more time at the top sport probably has improved thus a comparison between performances against him at these different stages is like a flawed comparison.

Did people actually think Tom would have beaten Francis ? Francis has the touch of death even for HW standards and an iron chin to eat any bomb.
yes
tom is a really good fighter but is fragile
when he gets touched he reacts like a boy

hes great in offense but is fragile

No sir, you are deluded. You look at 30-27 in sig strikes and deem it about even. That's bullshit. They count shots where someone's head snaps back as a sig strike and count less impactful strikes with the same label. It's clear to see that majority of clean work was done by Gane. Plus, Gane had all the momentum and Tom was fading badly. If you don't see that, I don't know what to tell you.
Guess we will find out in the rematch. Unless Gane fouls a-gane. Which is quite possible. More likely Tom catches him and finishes him. Hopefully we don't have to wait too long to see.

As far as I'm concerned, the fight will likely play out on the feet because I don't think Aspinall's wrestling is good enough to consistently take Francis down. On the feet, Tom has shown suspect defence going against the best hitter/boxer at heavyweight. Those are by far the most salient points in the "entire picture" IMO.

We all know Francis had a bum knee against Gane and Francis still took less damage across 5 rounds than Aspinall took in 1 round. So how does this guy get it? You think you are too good to type more than 4 words a post or something?

It didn't give us a definitive winner, but it certainly gave us more information about Tom's heart and boxing skills. If you think nothing can be analyzed from that fight, then what are you doing on a fight analysis forum?

You've made that up im afraid sir.

It was an even round. All knowledgeable MMA fans that have since rewatched the fight without the 'Tom is going to beat him quickly and easy' mindset have said the same thing.

I gave the advantage to Francis over Tom, but honestly Francis himself didn't look great lately.

Tom would beat every fighter ever. Or at least he would get NC (with right doctor).<BC1>
