Tom Aspinall might be scared to lose it all this quickly

I doubt he'll mess around early in the next fight trying to KO the dirty Kickboxer for fear he'll get his eyes raked again, so he'll just 100% commit to the takedown and get the quick sub.

Easy.

Im quite sure Tom and his father made a business decision with the eye injury.

Tom established a name as the new "jones killer" and was able to ride that wave for a long time, longer than all before him.

When Tom realized he couldn't take Gane down, outstrike him and started getting busted up, he rightfully saw his career ending before his eyes (functioning eye)

The injury buys him some time, even if Gane beats him a later date.
I know a lot of people will disagree with your comment, but it’s a very sharp and insightful description of what happened and what most likely went on in his mind.

Weird Tom didnt do that the first time he fought Gane, like Jones did

Maybe he wanted to test himself?

Tom's accomplishments include beating a few good guys, beating some cans, losing here and there, getting finished by Blaydes in under 30 seconds, and getting the HW belt via email, getting finished by Gane in under a round, and finally coming down with the dreaded Brown Syndrome according to an official diagnosis by Dr. Chatgp.

Let's not forget the big announcements.... Of a suppliments line, and a partnership with Champion.

I couldn't care less about the life of a pro fighter, but I completely support Tom not continuing the fight in the face of a lifelong cheat like Gane.

With that said, I don't think the rematch goes well for Tom. There's going to be much more pressure going into it. If he wins, people will dismiss it and say he should've lost the title in the first fight. If he loses, well that just wraps it up. Even if he obliterates Gane, or beats him twice, there will be people whining about the first fight.

While random opinions shouldn't matter, I believe this will create pressure that will only affect Tom. We'll just have to see how he handles it.

Breaking news: UFC and athletic commissions retroactively legalize eyepokes!

Finally Gane found a way to win that ever elusive title

Ehh you're underrating how short people's memories are. Especially in this TikTok world of 5 second clips that have obliterated attention spans.

If Aspinall does go out and win convincingly, this entire saga will be rendered moot and largely forgotten. He has to get healthy and actually do it first, but IF he does, he's back to being "the guy".

He wanted to do something nobody has ever done; beat Gane on the feet. Beating Gane with wrestling won't boost his legacy nearly as much, or create hype for a potential huge boxing payday down the road after his contract is up, but I doubt he'll stand with him for long in the rematch risking further damage to the eye by one of the dirtiest HWs in modern MMA history.

So Tom got beat up standing and couldn't take Gane down, but this was all part of the plan

I think I see it now.

He's already a milionaire dude.

Raiding his parents food sounds cute 😆
