News Mir picks Jones but says he will have a problem with speed

The longer he delays the Aspinall fight the worse it's going to be for him. Should have fought Aspinall right after Gane. Aspinall is only getting better and Jones is just getting older and slower

There would be a lot more caution against. Tom. He also didn't need to stand with Stipe, couldve just continued to dominate him on the ground, but chose to stand.

Hes not just going to stand with Tom and allow him to implement his game while fresh, he would take him down, tire him out and elbow his face for a while. Then Tom's striking would be tested with all that lactic acid buildup, while also worrying about the threat of the takedown.
I would agree with this if it was prime Jones, on steroids, at his natural weight. What I saw in the Stipe fight is that Jones probably has 1 to 1 1/2 rounds of grappling at HW, no more. He is in danger of gassing in a 5 round fight and has been hiding it well for a while.

Again with this retarded shit

51% plus of athletes are not doping

You are a retard if you believe this and or want to invent this because you are in love with a particular athlete who cheated

Some clown tried to use Icarus as proof, and then when you look at it, not even they claimed the majority if athletes cheat

This is akin to the contards trying to pretend rape is ok
The only thing you can go on is if they've been caught doping. Jones has been caught doping multiple time while others "who must be doping because everyone dopes" haven't. The only guilty ones have been caught, tried, and convicted, like Jon Jones.

I used to be a zealot for a clean sport.

But, I think the reality is that the very best in all of these professional sports where millions are on the line are using.

It's not as if honor doesn't matter, I used to argue that tripe for years.

But, at some point we simply have to acknowledge the reality that these aren't clean sports and the vast majority of our favorite athletes are using.

Anything else is a fantasy world that people choose to live in.
Thing is the rest of us aren't as naive as you guys think. I've done competitive shit before, albeit not at an elite level. I've seen people cheat at low level sports, in videogames, in card games, at fucking monopoly lmao. People like winning and hate losing, and don't mind taking shortcuts to win. I'm not under some illusion that most people competing at ANYTHING aren't stacking the deck if they can. That being said, official high level competition has the expectation of fairness. People want to see a fairly contested matchup where the better guy wins, not the better cheater. So if you are gonna cheat, you better not fucking get caught. And if you do, you better not get caught cheating more than anyone ever has all while having a smug, shitty, unapologetic attitude about it. Not if you really care about legacy anyway. It's really, really bad optics.

🤷‍♂️

Nice take. The old champ needs to provide the fight where they either go out on top or pass the torch. It's a fighting/boxing tradition and it should always happen. If Jones doesn't make this happen he's a pussy and should always be remembered as one.
Yeah, retire or fight.
His legacy is hanging on both outcomes IMO.
Jon could have laid his gloves down after the Stipe fight and said I'm the best ever and fuck you haters.
Instead he in his narcissistic way probably will hold up the belt as long as he possibly can.
I really like watching him fight, and have been a fan for that reason since the Bonner fight.
I wish he would go out in a blaze of glory or just go away.

Jones beat Tom in the grappling easily. Probably even heel hooking for the victory. Calling it. Jones by easy sub.

This is quite naive though.. lol

Expecting fairness in sports where millions are involved

It would be great to see, but we also have to be real.

You're also only focusing on guys who've tested positive, which is ignoring the significantly larger percentage of athletes who use and are never caught.

Look at the NFL. Just about everyone is using something. Are they getting caught though? Very very rarely and those that represent a miniscule percentage of the players that never test positive for a single thing.

Focusing only on who's testing positive is to ignore the larger reality of PED use across the entirety of athletes. Especially in sports where millions are involved, with status, fame, women and everything else.

A lot of these guys are doing everything in their power to cheat and it's very naive to believe otherwise.

Maybe less so in the lower levels of mma just because it costs money to get past that level of testing, which they often don't have compared to the richer, more established sports. Once you get past a certain threshold of wealth and you value your career, family, potential and everything else, most opt in.

The eye test alone will show you exactly how rampant PED use is in the ufc.

Bro you keep trying to tell me some guys pass tests that might actually be using, when I know that and you know that and literally everyone knows that. If you're using, you can't get caught. Ever. Because there's no way to prove all the other guys that AREN'T getting caught are cheating just like you are. It's what you can prove that matters, in everything. And the NFL isn't trying to catch ped cheaters, they've never been too interested in that. Little different than the ufc which overly promotes testing for some reason. Even though it's not really beneficial to the product.

The reality is that who's getting caught represents a very very small percentage of who's actually using

It paints a very illusory picture of how clean a sport actually is

Even Jones didn't test positive with what he actually used. Turinabol isn't something you'd use under usada. It's effects aren't great, it lasts forever, impossible to mask. There's no way you'd take it under that sort of testing, it's almost certainly a contaminant in something designer and undetectable he was using, which many experts also agree with.

The guys that get caught are just fucking up, most of them don't though. TJ was using his entire career, how long did it take before he was finally caught?

Point is, it's a much larger problem than just who's testing positive and that larger reality needs to be accounted for. Anything else is to be naive to the reality of sports.

I get what you're saying but that's life. Corruption and cheating are literally everywhere. In every industry in every nation. It's a rigged game. All you can try to do is operate within the rules. There are people that commit crimes every day that just get away with it. That doesn't mean the people that we do catch get a free pass because someone else got away with a crime. You're not SUPPOSED to be cheating. Ever, at anything. Yet every trade, field, sport etc does indeed have many people cheating. Better not get caught then, as far as your public image goes. Because EVERYONE isn't getting caught. Lots of guys have fought at an elite level for many years and never popped. Are some of those people secretly using? Of course, but you can't label everyone as a cheater when everyone isn't getting caught cheating. That's the entire reason we have a process to weed out cheaters.

So we can shame them and only them.

I don't think we fully know how to rate aspinall yet until we've had more questions answered about him

Hes a good boxer with power and a lot of speed. Good jiu jitsu. What we've seen is legit, no question about that.

But, when someone's wrestling hasn't been tested though, especially being from the UK, it's a big question mark. He's also said DC would be a nightmare matchup for him, which doesn't inspire a lot of confidence.

True, he hasn’t been tested much in the wrestling department, but he’s uber athletic, and seems to be training modern / cutting edge mma, my gut tells me he’d be respectable, defensively anyway..

I like Mir he was great as a Commentator for WEC. He is way better than what they have now.

he will beat him as quick as he beat cyril gane
tom aspinal lost to a guy named stuart austin btw looool

He was possibly the most biased commentator i have ever seen. His mancrush in Miguel Torres was something special.

Talked about how he was P4P#1 in an era that had prime Anderson and prime GSP. Constantly talked about how Torres is like the real life Rambo and how he could picture him going into the jungle and taking out an army of guys with just a knife.

Constantly gave him credit and his opponents none for sequences where his opponents where actually getting the better of him. Example when Brian Bowles dropped him hard and then ran into an uptick. Mir just talked about how great and dangerous Torres's upkicks were and how Bowles needed to he careful. No mention why Torres was even on his back in the first place.
