Jon Jones, Dana White Differ on Timeline for Retirement

As is the case in life: there are 3 sides to everyone story his/his and the truth which lies in between what they are both saying.

Probably both, but I literally trust Dana more than I do Jon. Somehow.

Think Jones didnt want to fight Tom. Things dragged on a bit, they negotiated, he gave UFC a number he didnt think they'd give him. Then he could go out and say I told them my number, match it and we got a fight. Notice NOT ONE TIME during this whole think has Jones said anything about not being paid his worth.

So UFC actually stepped up to pay him, he probably accepted verbally and then backtracked which is exactly what Dana, Ariel and others in media say they hear happened. So yeah I dont think his heart was ever really in it but he negotiated and was down with it at one point before pulling back on it.

And not for nothing if Jones was done in Nov he could have done exactly what he did a week ago. Vacate the title, withdraw from testing pool, inform UFC he's done and freeze his contract and thats it. Then theres no is he isnt he situation, but he didnt do that.

After finishing Stipe, Jone went up to Joe Rogan and said he wasn't retiring. He also expressed interest in Alex before Alex lost the belt. Jon could've said he was retired this entire time. If Dana White knew there was almost no chance to to get Jones back in the cage, the belt would have been stripped from Jon very fast

Not saying Dana always tells the truth, but he's about 1,000,000 times more trustworthy than Jon Jones

Jones went on record weeks, maybe even a month iirc before the retirement announcement, saying that the UFC already knew what his decision was and he was just waiting for them to announce it. So based solely on that, Dana’s claim that he called him the night before the announcement and suddenly retired is false.

This is what I’m referring to. Based on this, I’m going to have to say it’s more likely Jones was telling the truth. It doesn’t really align with the notion of a sudden retirement out of nowhere. Dana says they were still negotiating and he pulled the plug out of the blue.

Petition to wasteland all threads mentioning Jones. Who honestly gives a fuck at this point?
