What happens when the law he does not want to enforce is deemed unconstitutional. The law is still being litigated. Does he get his job back?
If the Governor said that all women have to wear full length skirts and that law is being litigated by higher courts, what if a DA, says hey before I enforce this, lets make sure its legal.
IF the Governor is trying to win the Iowa primary then do you have to enforce it to keep your job, even if you dont know if its Constitutionally legal. Is winning the Iowa primary more important, so you enforce it, even if you dont think its legal. Quite a quandary.
A lot of people seem to forget, Florida is purple and Desantis only beat a drug addicted socialist by 32,000 votes. School districts are making teachers remove their personal libraries from their classroom, and Desantis is making laws against CRT that does not exist. The polling I see it will be close against scum bag Crist, and Desantis is beating Fried. They are banning text books but not saying why they are banned, but there is one company who seems to be getting all the text book contracts, weird how wokeness can be used to rob the tax payers for big time donors.
Desantis has to walk the abortion fine line, plus Florida has the 4th highest gay population in the US.
Dont get me wrong Desantis is popular with those that voted for Trump in 2020 but now realize Donny is too toxic to put out there in 2024, because he is basically a fat balding Hillary, I.E he motivates people to vote against him, who would probably normally not vote. I will tell you how this ends, Donny has the most fragile ego of any politician I have seen. He has taken small pot shots at Desantis but the more popular Desantis gets, wait for Donny to start throwing a fit. He will not be able to help himself, its who he has been, since the late 80's.
I voted for DeSantis because Gillum was a terrible candidate and way to far left. I actually liked him in the beginning, but he has gone too far right, and lost me when he was telling private businesses how to run their business, which is unacceptable. Now he has turned himself into a tolerable version of Trump, and embraced the culture wars, but culture wars win Iowa and gets you 10 million from Ken Griffin. Funny Kenny hardly gave Donny any money.

I looked up the law in Sweden and the cut-off point is apparently 18 weeks. After 18 weeks, you need permission from a medical board and they only allow it if you or the fetus are unhealthy. So even progressive Sweden has always had a limit on it. And Florida is only 3 weeks shorter.

I think the vast majority of reasonable people support time limits on abortion. You shouldn't be able to abort an 8 month old fetus. So how is limiting abortion to 15 weeks oppressive to women, but some other more or less arbitrary cut-off point like 18 weeks is not?

We will not see a satisfactory answer to this question, but it really should put an end to the debate.

His motive is clearly political. Just look at the press releases referring to the state prosecutor as "Soros backed" and using their new catchall "woke". So he's essentially removing an elected official for political reasons, invalidating all the votes of the people in that county, and replacing him with a hand-picked crony. Notice how there are exactly 0 specific instances where the guy declined to prosecute someone for committing a crime named.

The governor’s oversight has historically been to suspend these folks for things like drunkenness and not showing up, etc. Not fascist. Here DeSantis is substituting his ideology for the Prosecutor’s discretion.

Do you think an elected prosecutor should be removed from office for not enforcing blue laws like not allowing ones horse to drink out of a public fountain. Don’t prosecutors have discretion to charge for marajuana possession? This is not protecting the public from a derelict prosecutor. This is government overreach by the party allegedly for limited government. What happened to local elected government making decisions at the local level?

For what it’s worth, this prosecutor would probably be re-elected by his constituents tomorrow. DeSantis will likely be re-elected in November.
