Rich Franklin knocked out Liddell with a broken arm, Jones fought with a compound fracture where the bone was protruding out of his skin. It's what separates the great fighters from the middle of the pack fighters.

Neither of those were fouls. The closest comparison is Smith choosing to continue against Jones after taking an illegal knee.

I don't know if Tom puts Gane away as quickly as Jones did on the mat, but all I'll say is that Gane would be in a place he very much would dislike if Aspinall takes him down. And standing, Aspinall is better too. Faster, more power, more accurate in the pocket with fight changing shots. Gane is a slick striker for a HW yes, but hes still not at Aspinall's level.

I can't see any version of Gane I'd pick over Tom. Hell, I can't think of any time I've seen Gane where I'd make him less than a 2 to 1 underdog (and that might be generous). Speed and power combined at HW just matter so much more than a small technical edge. And that's not even counting the grappling disparity.

Again, it's a fight (a HW one at that) so I'll never fully count out a guy with some talent (which Gane has). But a 25% chance is about as good as I'd give him
