Gane has never beaten anyone whos stock was anywhere near as high as Pavs was when Tom iced him in the first round. He was on a six fight first round KO streak which included Blaydes, Lewis and Tai and was being hyped up as a monster with massive KO power who was in his absolute prime. Even after Tom took his soul he still beat Rozenstruik.

Volkov? Gane went to a competitive 5 round decision with him the first time and just lost to him in most peoples eyes, Tom stopped him in the first round.

No bro, I’m saying Francis isn’t a good wrestler because he didn’t grow up doing it. You can’t train a lifetime of wrestling in a few years. You can improve but Francis only started MMA in 2013 and he still had no problem outwrestling Gane despite a major knee injury.

Gane is just not good. Period. He’s a nice technical kickboxer but he has extremely limited grappling and low power. He can beat fat brawlers and look good doing it but anyone with grappling can really neutralize him or even make him look like a child in there. Plus not having power at HW is an even bigger disadvantage than any other division because almost everybody else has it, especially Tom.

You’re not going to be able to points kickbox your way to a victory against Tom. It may work against guys like Lewis or Tuivasa (barely) but this is a different game. Gane is treated like an elite fighter and he’s not. He’s a top 10 and top 5 guy in a weak division but the notion he deserves another title shot or is a legit contender is wrong and always has been. If your only strategy is to keep it standing and win a points match, you’re in trouble against Tom who can grapple and surviving 5 rounds on the feet with a guy who dispatched everybody in a minute or two isn’t a great one. Tom beats him easily
