Why aren't we already seeing Aspinall vs. Gane?

For someone who sucks, he has won a decent amount of fights in the worlds premier MMA org. in the absolute division.

Losing vs Jon Jones and Ngannou, I wouldn't say that you suck for doing so. And that's his only losses.

Now, Tom Aspinall has lost more fights than Gane, and he hasn't beaten better opponents than Gane. They're pretty much even in that regard.

Aspinall and Gane are pretty much even in accomplishments. Is Tom better rounded? Probably. Could Gane beat Tom standing? Maybe.

Does Jones need to fight Tom or retire? Absolutely.

But Gane doesn't suck.

When you’re getting outgrappled by Francis N’Gannou of all people, you have some major issues. Then his next fight he got taken down and submitted at will…

The notion that Gane is an elite fighter is dead wrong and people are finally waking up. He’s not good against anyone other than fat, sloppy brawlers and even Tuivasa almost KO’ed him.

I suspect for one reason or another that Dana White has told Aspinall to "sit tight" and wait for the Jon Jones fight.

It's impossible to know, but Aspinall has seemingly expressed interest in moving on and fighting other fighters (Gane, etc.). The fact that we haven't seen it means the UFC is holding him back, IMO.

OK bud none of that matters. Aspinall has a 100% finish rate in the UFC for his wins, and he avenged the only UFC loss he had (which was via injury).

Jon Jones needs to defend or vacate and nothing else matters.

HOWEVER, I agree with you that qualitatively, he doesn't deserve one. His loss against Jon Jones was so bad, so pathetic that he shouldn't fight for the title again until he fixes his wrestling. That was just embarrassing.

I don't think Dana will give it to him. Dana apologised personally to Volkov for that judges decision.

Because Tom would get exposed and ruin the Jones money fight. That dart in and out style of striking works against slow unskilled HW opponents but Gane isn't either of those things. And he will be prepared for Tom's football tackle style takedown, his only wrestling technique (he caught Volkov by surprise with these)....let's not act like he's English Khabib.

Aspinall defended his interim title which was already absurd and Gane got beaten by Volkov who is on a 5 fight winning streak. Its Aspinall
vs Jones NOW or strip Jones and make Aspinall fight Volkov and then Gane if he actually wins a fight.

Well with Dana saying soon it makes me believe they feel they can get the deal done with Jon. Thus no intention of doing Aspinall/Gane. I have no idea what they are actually telling Tom or if they are telling him anything. We haven't heard anything from UFC and Dana since Jon's recent postings. So maybe now they are less confidant in getting Jon to fight Tom and move to stripping and then do the Aspinall/Gane fight.

It isnt even that in his case though. Blaydes, Pav and Jailton were/are out there for him as fresh opponents but for some reason hes managed to bypass those fresh highly ranked potential opponents while getting endless title shots and staying in the top 3 for years....
