It's prime circular logic.

Aspinall sucks because he only fought two decent HWs in a division which sucks so any decent wins in a sucky division aren't actually decent so Aspinall's wins actually suck so Aspinall himself sucks.

WHILE

Jones avoided Aspinall because Aspinall sucks, while Jones does not, thus beating Aspinall would suck for Jones so Aspinall is not worthy of Jones' time because Jones does not suck while Aspinall does suck because he only fought two decent HWs in a division which sucks so any decent wins in a sucky division aren't actually decent so Aspinall's wins actually suck so Aspinall himself sucks, thus it is better for Jones to avoid him.

Their records have nothing to do with it.

You had a HW champion who won his last fight and said he was not done and not retiring.
You had a clear cut number one contender who also had the interim
The champ was actively avoided talking about or accepting this match
When all the other "lots of options" disappeared, Jones retired.

Jones earned the right to walk away.
Instead he said he wasn't done and then waited 8 month.
He was trolling every potential fighter he could think of to try and get interest for a match.
He openly talked about avoiding the Aspinall fight the entire time.
They wouldn't let him fight anyone else, he retired.

I didn’t care to see dj or gsp post up vaguely inspired lopsidedly dominant decision wins versus unwarranted contenders.

And I genuinely believe that he knew he would lose. He's more interested in preserving his undefeated record than proving he's the best in the world.
 
His best career win is either Blaydes or Volkov

I get your bias analysis of the Tom/Jon situation, but much like the Islam/Ilia situation, it does look like one is definitely avoiding a fight when the other is up for it.
