Jones is gone, I wish his fans would stop bringing him up to troll and that his haters would stop bringing him up too. I think Pavlovich had Tom stunned in their match but couldn't capitalize and perhaps Volkov has made some improvements but he beat them both already, that leaves Jailton (if he doesn't have another setback like he did with Blaydes) and Gane.

Given that he has beaten 3 of the top 5 ranked HWs in the UFC and 5 out of the top 10 if you want to imagine that Lewis, Tuivasa or Salsa Boy Acosta could beat him fine, I can't fathom how anyone questions his credibility in the division as it stands now. There are only like 30 HWs in the UFC period, it's not like there is this bastion of talent he has not faced that deserves a title shot. He has 5 quality wins.

If you want to argue that his wins suck because these guys lose to each other (Jailton, Blaydes, Volkov, Pavlovich, Tybura, Spivac) then you don't want top contenders to fight each other? What's the alternative? Aspinall hasn't lost to ANY of them outside of injury vs Blaydes and none of them managed that. Sounds like he is a whole level above his opposition and Gane is the only one who can make a similar claim with this talent pool. Ngannou and Jones not being UFC HWs anymore shouldn't mean the current champion is overrated anymore than Jones and DC not being at LHW means all following champions were paper champs for not beating either of them either.

Pavlovich’s best win in the UFC is Curtis Blaydes and his most relevant losses in the UFC include aged-Overeem and Volkov.

Blaydes best win in the UFC (prior to fighting Tom the 2nd time) was either aged-JDS or aged-Overeem and his most relevant losses include Derrick Lewis and quick KO loss to Ngannou.


Examining the above, how can ANYONE argue that Tom has MUCH to prove??

The sample size is much too small and seeing threads daily about how Tom scared off Jones is off the charts ridiculous with Tom’s body ot work.

He chose the stripe fight as it’s a much bigger name. Tom hasn’t even main evented a numbered card.
He may have only been on 1 or 2 numbered cards.

I genuinely believe that he was more under motivated than scared.
Jones needs stars to fight or he’s gonna put a mountain of cocaine as an obstacle to make it interesting for himself.
Not many people can get excited to do a gsp or Demetrius Johnson thing, and just go to work everyday as a professional athlete.

MMA is full of adrenaline junky big game hunters and that’s what makes the sport great, for me anyway.

I didn’t care to see dj or gsp post up vaguely inspired lopsidedly dominant decision wins versus unwarranted contenders.
