Orbital bones are pretty damn fragile. You're skull isn't generally built to withstand blunt force coming from INSIDE the eye socket.

Gane did get him with several hard shots during the fights and it could explain why Tom was having more pain and trouble with the eye that got fingered fucked the least. It's not like he wouldn't notice his orbital getting fractured by a punch.

Also, this isn't a clean, well-centered Three Stooges eye poke, just to the center of the eyeball, not making contact anywhere else. I'd say the fracture would be MORE likely on the eye that didn't get poked worse, because the eyeball not taking as much direct contact probably means there was more contact with the surrounding eye socket, instead.

But I'll admit, unlike OP, that's entirely speculative, on my part. I don't know or claim to know. I just know it doesn't seem implausible to me. But I'm not invested in any particular narrative, personally.

Not a Tom hugger, just a brain haver. Orbitals are more fragile than you. They couldn't stand the pressure of an air cannon. Finger pokes are extremely common but fingers going  through the eye cavity are rare. Which is what most of us saw, but some of us continue to deny
