Most produce in grocery stores say product of mexico, so i don't see a problem. And if prices go up on Big Farm-a , it will just help local farmers sell there produce around the same price, which means better quality for me.

Am I the only one who is amused to no end watching MAGA supporters simultaneously stroke off billionaires, while telling cash-poor farmers to deport their migrant labor and pay Americans more, and also raise prices beyond what can actually be sold, because the vast majority of Americans can't afford those higher food prices, because of said stroked-off billionaires?

AND YET if you had posted this thread a year ago these same people would be complaining about the price of food as it is, AND talking shit about lower class Americans for being unskilled and not having higher-paying jobs. I mean fuck, you've got people in this thread already turning their backs on farmers and talking shit about them. And all it took was a billionaire telling them to do it.

It's an absolute masterclass in cognitive dissonance.

Farmers are poor, hardworking, salt-of-the-earth, red-blooded Americans.

But farmers are also rich, asshole slave-drivers, parading around in brand new $100,000 pickup trucks that they can afford by importing cheap migrant labor so they don't have to pay actual American workers.

Immigrants are coddled, entitled, contemptible leeches who are siphoning all the wealth of the American lower and middle classes by getting all manner of free shit paid for by tax payers (and also eating our pets).

But immigrants are also poor slave laborers, bereft of freedom and a decent living.

Federal minimum wage shouldn't be increased because that will only lead to higher prices, and therefore higher cost-of-living, negating the point of the pay raise, and only worsening inflation.

But AEWRs should also be jacked way the fuck up so that companies can't afford to use migrant labor, and are forced to pay Americans a far higher rate than Federal minimum wage.

It really is a shame that all these terrible lessons are going to have to be learned the hard way simply because half the people in this country are, quite frankly, retards who don't have the slightest understanding of economics. But my goodness will it be fun watching these people twist themselves into knots trying not to appear like absolute fools who have been completely and utterly had by the same "wealthy elite" that they've been babbling about all these years.

Both sides use this type of labor. You really think big farms and ranchers are blue? They donated a lot to Republicans and in turn get massive tax cuts or subsidies. I doubt this administration would remove their workforce. Majority of the big corporations use illegal labor. It's the small players in the industry who want it removed so it evens up the playing field. I think it is fair to do so but they just don't donate enough to make a difference.
