I'd imagine the big contractors that have experience building armored vehicles and mraps, like BAE Systems, Lockheed, Oshkosh, Navistar, and others were none to happy and it just smacks of corruption to award it to Tesla without any sort of competition and bid-process.

My hunch is that Tesla will still get it but by the time the contract is awarded the Trump admin will claim Tesla was the best choice. Some of the other mfgs might try to get into a joint-venture with Tesla knowing that they will lose out if they don't, because of Elon's influence over Trump.

There is obviously no way Donald Trump had anything to do with this contract planning since it clearly happened during Biden's administration, but Elon certainly did.

I would have gone with the much more defensible angle that Musk shifted his support to Trump shortly after the Biden/Trump debate when it became very likely that Trump would win the election in order to gain favor to protect these high value contracts. It makes a lot more sense given the previous relationship between the two and Trump's pretty anti-EV stance.

100%, Elon was a Democrat who donated and voted for Obama. Also I don’t think he would bend the knee just for money he seems like he cares less about money compared to other billionaires, like Zuckerberg. Last spring I think it was he told advertising company’s to fuck themselves if they think he’s going to police the speech on Twitter .
