The below "highly qualified" is so not true...I've been in Tech for >25 years. I'd posit that at best 10%-25% are highly qualified and as someone who has crunched the numbers to support corporate decisions the by far biggest reason for H1B's is "keep costs down" as they are anywhere from 25%-40% less (when hired via the big companies like LTI Mindtree, Accenture and TCS) than non H1B's and H1B's that are hired via smaller local or regional contracting companies...it's basic business sense when you apply a 25% (in some cases 10%) across hundreds or even thousands resources...you can save millions and in some cases 10's of millions in labor costs.

In December, referring to H-1B visas awarded to highly qualified, foreign-born tech workers, he wrote: “99% of Indian H1Bs will be replaced by slightly smarter LLMs [a type of artificial intelligence], they’re going back don’t worry guys.”
