News Mir picks Jones but says he will have a problem with speed

Lololol. Only sherdoggers believe this. He's dqd from GOAT conversations.
In fact even here theyā€™re an extreme minority. Weā€™ve done so many goat polls and Jones and Silva NEVER win, yet we have to listen to their batshit fanbases talk about how nobody cares about cheating. Like my guy YOU think cheating is fine obviously most mma fans donā€™t lmao.

Jones has reached the status long time ago where you canā€™t really bet against him until he actually loses

Right. Jon might have the most underrated chin in MMA history. I think Reyes rung his bell but didn't drop him.
DC hit him a lot harder, cleaner

And more frequently

Probably a better example of his chin than his fight with Reyes.

90% of fighters believe he's the goat

Same with elite analysts

Sherdoggers are actually least likely to view him as the goat, but are also the least credible compared with the rest, while being the most likely to be influenced by emotion than logic or actual fight iq.

Problem is, almost everyone on the goat list used as well.

It's just a fantasy where people believe Jones is some odd man out, in an otherwise clean spirt.

The reality is most of our favorite fighters are using. Not just in mma, but looking at the greatest athletes in every sport from the NFL to football to the NBA, all the best are on PED's

If we have that much of a problem with cheating, then we may need to boycott sports in general.

And given that, you can't just take PEDs and become the most skilled and talented fighter that has ever lived. It doesn't work like that. In a sport full of guys on the sauce, there's only one Jon jones.

Reyes did put him on the canvas and for that reason alone I believe that did stun Jones at least in a psychological sense. He did quit LHW right after that "win"

If you think Tom is overrated, you donā€™t know what youā€™re watching.

Look at his finishes, they are picture perfect, lightning fast, crisp technique.
I don't think we fully know how to rate aspinall yet until we've had more questions answered about him

Hes a good boxer with power and a lot of speed. Good jiu jitsu. What we've seen is legit, no question about that.

But, when someone's wrestling hasn't been tested though, especially being from the UK, it's a big question mark. He's also said DC would be a nightmare matchup for him, which doesn't inspire a lot of confidence.

--Interesting that Mir rates wrestling over BJJ--

Mir said, ā€œI would bet on Jon. I think Tom has quick hands, which gives him a better chance than most. I think Tom might have a better chance than anybody to beat Jon right now in the UFC. But that being said, I think Jon wins the fight just because of his wrestling. I think he puts Tom on his back and can nullify his jiu-jitsu from being in top position with his elbows and control.ā€

Mir also acknowledged Aspinallā€™s skills, noting that the Englishman has a good shot at victory. He pointed out that ā€œJones does have an issue with speed,ā€ highlighting his vulnerabilities when it comes to agility, referencing his struggles in the first round against Lyoto Machida way back in 2011. Despite Jones winning that fight, Mir said Jones had a tough time due to Machidaā€™s speed, describing it as a ā€œchess matchā€ rather than a ā€œslugfest.ā€

We just dismiss fighter and coach opinions when it doesn't chime with our own, right?

If Tom is more patient than his previous UFC fights itā€™s his fight to win. He should able to catch Jones.

But if he rushes in like his last opponents Jones will time a takedown. I watched all of Aspinalls UFC fights recently and you know Jones is watching them because he studies tape like a maniac.

You can almost bet that Jones will come in with a conservative gameplan of oblique kicks to Aspinalls recently injured knee and timed takedowns off of Aspinalls 1-2 blitz. He will try to take this fight into deeper waters.

Aspinall has all the physical tools to win but Jones is so savvy and has some of the best fight IQ in the sport.

I hope this fight happens but I have my doubts.
It's very hard to oblique kick the rear knee without leaving yourself open

Not sure why people are ignoring this obvious flaw

If it was Tom's front leg it would be a more valid argument than people are making it out to be

You could argue machida stunned him but itā€™s hard to say for sure. He also has never been hit by a giant heavyweight with crazy speed that is toppling other bigger men.

You donā€™t want to test your chin against a guy like that
Lol at thinking Reyes means anything compared to consistent HW KO artist, 265 pound Aspinall

I have a different vibe as a fan of Jon Jones.
Guys like Chuck and Wandy I wanted them to go out on top and give the young lions one last ass whooping before they hung the gloves up.
I thoroughly want Tom to beat the brakes off Jon and put his tainted but amazing run to bed
Nice take. The old champ needs to provide the fight where they either go out on top or pass the torch. It's a fighting/boxing tradition and it should always happen. If Jones doesn't make this happen he's a pussy and should always be remembered as one.
