"Father Time Did Not Beat Stipe, Jon Did" - Chael P.

It’s easy for your punches to look like dog shit when your opponent is longer, faster and has great defense. He got a couple decent ones in but Jon is just too good for him at this stage. That Stipe still looks better against other HWs imo.

You're talking as if people cannot make the difference between comparative skills and skill themselves. Stipe looked like total garbage under any metric. That the HW division is so woefully thin others are even worse or equally as bad is another thing.

Last 2 years Chael has been very off in his analysis's, Stipe looked super slow, super hesitant, super stiff, he looked like a guy who had not fought for 3,5 years, it was like he was in slow motion the entire fight. And this is not discrediting Jon, but Stipe at 42 years of age with 3,5 years without a fight, come on.

They can’t lmao - they literally can’t!

I think it's a little of both. Jon's striking versatility looked top notch. But come on, Stipe's movements, reflexes, and punches looked slower than anyone I recall of any modern heavyweight. He obviously has had a huge decline in the past few years. Prime Stipe would have been interesting but damn he looked like he was trudging thru mud.
The problem is he got beat up so bad in that first round. You never got a chance to see what his movement and striking was going to look like without all that damage. I’ve rewatch the fight three times and he got the shit kicked out of him the entire round. Then Jones went white to work on the body in the second round. He just got his ass kicked.

Hey, Chael also said Izzy beating a 62 year old Anderson by decision proves he’s a better “all time” middleweight.

I don’t think he believes half of the things he says.

Let's have a show of hands: is there anyone here who thinks Miocic gave Jones as tough a fight as a current top 10 HW would have?
Absolutely most of the current heavyweight top ten gives a comparably difficult fight even if they all look better doing it. We know that's the case for Gane, and while any of the remaining top ten certainly could give Jon a more difficult fight, the only ones I'd expect to are Ngannou and Aspinall. The remaining six combine to give no more than two fights more difficult than Stipe did.

It's definitely a little of both.

Jones IS that good. Even if he was in his prime, that still would've happened to Stipe.

Every stylistic issue Jones presented, would've been the same issue in his prime.

But, Stipe was also old.

Both can be true.

THANK YOU. Well said! I agree 100%

I agree with Chael. People are discrediting Stipe more than giving Jon credit. Jon made Stipe look like a retired bum with his body work and ground and pound, and then gave us a highlight reel finish. Jon was coming off a layoff with an injury too - not like he has been active for years either. People are only mentioning Stipe's absence, not Jon's.

Jon is that good. Accept it. Embrace it.

You may not like the person, but the fighter is the greatest of all time.

If you go off what you are watching and look at his record, he is the goat. But what did he do to achieve that? be a steroid cheat post USADA. He was Probably on an unfair amount of gear during USADA too. T levels of a small child in the first DC fight pre usada.

Who listens to CS anymore? His bullshit is long as the day without any degree of credibility on the reality spectrum.

Nonsense. Stipe looked lethargic from the opening bell. Would just any average HW beat him like that? No but he's clearly a shell of himself.

Well said, Jon should try to get chuck Liddell next; he's looking like he's just hitting his prime also... Then we will know for sure who is the p4p 🤔🤔

Unless Jon is Father Time

I agree he is a BSer but he’s fought Jon and has credibility still when he isn’t doing his WWF style rants.

Besides, he more so confirmed what I’ve been saying vs me just listening to him.

Jon is really good for sure, but to pretend that his age, retirement status and preoccupation with fire fighting aren't huge factors in this fight is a clearly stupid take that is unsupported by evidence or common sense and just so happens to align with ufc shilling.

In other words, a classic chael take.

Not only does Jones not deserve praise for a meaningless fight against a retired, over the hill with high mileage Stipe, Jones needs to be criticized for avoiding the HW Champs Francis and now Tom.

nice to see steroid cheaters stick up for each other
