nah, actually being fast is more important than being strong in the NFL. speed is almost always the attribute that is lacking in most guys who fail to make it in the NFL.

This is what it boils down to.

The reason we shuffled around middling skilled old farts in the upper weight division is because the pay is atrocious. Its 12k show to get brain damage while the promoter keeps 86% of the money generated.

We don't get suitably young, suitably gifted athletes because anyone with options doesn't want a deal that bad.

if you're getting 12k in the UFC it's probably because you didn't generate 86% of the money.

Kinda shocked it's that low Isn't like the NBA minimum salary one million? I always viewed NFL as the bigger sport in America so thought it was more.

NBA has 82 regular season games vs 17 for the NFL, so they do play a lot more games to generate revenue. Also the roster is much smaller, NFL teams have 53 players to pay.

Lesnar actually got offered a contract, but he turned it down because they wanted him to go to NFL Europe for a year to learn the NFL system.

Stephen Neal, who beat Lesnar in the 99 NCAA finals, tried out for the Patriots and ended up being their starting center on three superbowl teams despite not playing college football. Neal did play football in high school, though.
