Lesnar actually got offered a contract, but he turned it down because they wanted him to go to NFL Europe for a year to learn the NFL system.

Stephen Neal, who beat Lesnar in the 99 NCAA finals, tried out for the Patriots and ended up being their starting center on three superbowl teams despite not playing college football. Neal did play football in high school, though.

Stephen Neal played Offensive Guard. Typically the Guards are the strongest O Linemen, the Tackles are the most athletic, and the Center has the highest Football IQ. Stephen Neal’s raw strength and athleticism translated best to Offensive Guard.

Raw athleticism translates well into Football. Typically your best multi-sport athletes (Bo Jackson, Deion, Antonio Gates, Charlie Ward, Jim Brown, etc) are best at Football.

Even guys like Jim Thorpe, Jackie Robinson, and Bob Hayes were best at Track & Field, followed closely by Football.

Kinda shocked it's that low Isn't like the NBA minimum salary one million? I always viewed NFL as the bigger sport in America so thought it was more.

I was also surprised it was that low base pay.

for example NHL base pay is going to be 775k next year with the salary cap going up.

The NFL is obviously much more popular, especially in the states, the NHL has always been seen, at least by Americans, less important than the NFL, NBA, even MLB. Seems like most of the salary money is going to star players (not surprising)but you'd think base NFL pay would be more than just 25k more than NHL base pay

NBA rosters have 15 players. NFL rosters have 53. That's probably why. NFL is definitely the bigger sport.

Also way less games to profit off of. Like 8 home games vs 41.

Yeah chances are low if you didn't play it in college and actually aimed for it from the get go.

I don't know much about NFL but it worked out for Stephen Neal and Carlton Haselrig so there is precedent.

Maybe Steveson would have been a mediocre fighter or maybe a really good one, now we won't find out.
