15 seconds in some podunk organization isn't much of a benchmark to test against, and we all know this is just all just a formality to get Jon's "protege" into the cage. He'll run into his Cain Velasquez soon enough. Remember when that "jacked white boy" wrestler ran into someone he couldn't scare or outmuscle? Same thing will happen to Gable.

Steveson is undoubtedly physically capable, and in theory should have a good fight IQ, but I've seen so many "athletes" just wilt when getting hit clean with 4oz gloves. He could probably walk into the top-15 HW's in most organizations, and that's the reality of the big men division.

Hearing about him for a while, at this point my impression is that he's gonna fail because his heart may not be in it like it should. 2 or 3 sports have rejected him already and it's like he's finally 'given in' to the MMA path that his fans, not himself, have wanted for him to follow.

This aint no reject sport and everybody will find out quick like all those A level football players and olympian medalists etc. who have fialed miserably.

That and the fact that MMA in the modern era has quickly filtered through the guys who don't like to take a strike and can't adjust. For all we know he can't take 1 hit to the nose(or he can). In any event, it would be a w-w for me. I mean I liked Bo Nickal and still want him to succeed but it was really fun watching him get hammered and humbled.

Yes, levels of wrestling aren't any guarantee no matter how high. That was my point.

Unless you are talking mid-90s MMA. Gable definitely could have beaten Fred Ettish.

I hope he does come to the UFC (moderately exciting), I just am not at all convinced he will be championship level when even at HW there could be 1-2 guys that actually would match up well with an inexperienced wrestler in a 5-round fight. Let's see how he develops.

I think when you have the credentials this guy has youve already put in the work. If he wants to jump in then ufc should let him.

The problem is when the ufc tries to coddle these guys. Once youre in youre in it should be sink or switch. Its up to Gable and his coaches to decide if he needs more bush league fights

Although the ufc hw division outside of the top 6 or 7 is bush league too so imo he might aswell be fighting there now getting the hype train going.

of course there is the elephant in the room. The rape arrest in 2019. He only got away with not because he was found not guilty or the authorities decided there wasn't enough evidence to go forward with the charges, but cause of a loophole that was closed shortly after. In other words, had he done the exact same thing just shortly after, he would probably be serving hard time right now as a convicted rapist

He should sign 3 fight contract with Oktagon or KSW and then negotatiate with UFC as champ of OKTAGON or KSW. Like in LFA he is crushing cans without any significant rank. Champ in LFA is worldwide ranked #119 . Oktagons #3 is #92 worldwide, #2 is #72 worldwide, #1 is #49 worldwide and recently signed Buday is #42 or something...

-He could easily ask for high contract and instantly fight in UFC top 10-5 as Keita if he snatched OKTAGON title...and test himself aswell.

He is American and has name value in a division that is shallow and an Org desperate for a top tier American male fighter.

He will command top dollar tomorrow, holding a legitimate alternate title doesn't really raise his value to the company much.
