News Gable Stevenson calls out UFC

There's only been 4 Olympic gold medalists in the UFC. Henry Cejudo ( 2 division UFC champ), Kayla Harrison (BW champ), Kevin Jackson ( UFC Tournament champion), and Mark Schultz ( 1-0 in UFC and retired). They are on a completely different level discipline wise and athleticism wise then other "high level wrestlers" and Olympic "runner ups"
It's worth noting
  • Kevin Jackson retired at 4-2, all of his wins coming by a finish. He was submitted by two Lion's Den fighters. Most likely he just lacked submission defense
  • Mark Schultz dominated a larger Gary Goodridge who was basically the HW gatekeeper in the early days along with Tank Abbott. Both of them crushed everyone they fought except the best HWs.

Who tf is Swanson?

Give Gabe at least one proper opponent.

Fact of the matter is 3 out of 4 Olympic gold medalists won belts or a tournament. The other retired undefeated in the UFC. Don't let facts and logic discourage you from forming an opinion, though.
You have no logic to offer because you are hiding from the facts- two of those guys ONLY won against UFC fighters who had ZERO ground experience in the 90s; one was quickly armbarred the two times they took on a grappler- , but hey, you do you. I don't argue with the patently ignorant.

I never said anything about gold. So again- you are saying this is a guarantee of a championship?

lol BTW on Kevin Jackson- 2 armbars in a row (one in 30 seconds); he did NOT fare well in the UFC. Even way back at that point in the 90s it wasn't a guarantee. He won a tournament of guys that couldn't grapple.
He also finished 4 guys including John Lober who had a win over Frank Shamrock. He needed more training in submission grappling--which wasn't that easy to get in 1997. It was mostly the Gracies (who didn't want to teach non-Brazilian fighters) and Lion's Den.

He can do the sean o malley way fighting cans and last minute replacement fighters

UFC has been cutting the wrestlers from heavyweight at a rate no other division can even compare. They've rolled the carpet out for him to give him that O'Malley path to stardom.

Sean was fighting in a talent packed division, if Gable can remotely take a punch he could enter the HW division ranked.

Greg Hardy KO'd his first 3 amateur opponents and then his first 3 pro opponents. I realize Gabe should have an elite wrestling which Hardy doesn't, but we're going to have to see him against better competition before I'm convinced of anything. If he thinks he can enter the sport as a Gaethje or late-stage Chandler type (wrestler who would rather brawl), I'm not sure how it will go for him.

Isn't that what he's
he beat a 4-3 green mma fighter that's on a 3 fight loss streak before making this is 4th loss in a row, calm down, he needs a bit more growing to do.
supposed to be doing in his first mma fight? He's only 25 and training with talented people. I'm sure he can grow as a fighter. He's very athletic and the best heavyweight wrestler to compete in mma. You have to work hard to become and olympic and nccaa champ. I'm sure he'll train hard.

Hardy was also a beatup football player in his 30s, with no mma skills.

Whole fight...

Huge super-athlete incoming!

The ring looks comfortable

Yea that's a great point. It's one thing when he's bulldozing cans, but how will he react when he gets hit by a top tier UFC heavyweight punch?

Top Tier UFC Hw Is like ... 4 guys.

Tom
Gane
Volkov
Pavlovich
__________
Jailton ... is a pacifist and even if he could punch his way out of a paper bag he would choose not to.

Wouldnt mind, but just so you know, a 1-0 guy will fight cans for a few fights...stop asking new guys to fight for the title by their 5th fight.

I agree with all of that except Lewis. He's one of those guys that can be dominated for 14 minutes and sneak in a KO just before 3rd round bell rings. Give him a HW fatty who doesn't have too much KO power, at least for his first fight.

Theres always a risk with Lewis, but hes a big name, isnt a good grappler, is 40 years old and will get you in the top 10 if you beat him. If they want to go the Brock route and move him as fast as possible to the title they need something high profile straight away.

I mean, Brock was older, less accomplished in wrestling and had less striking ability, and they gave him prime Mir for his debut.

In this situation I dont think there would be anything wrong in strapping a rocket to the guy and trying to get him into the title picture ASAP tbh. The HW division is pretty poor with a lack of credible big name challengers, and the UFC in general needs stars. They have the blueprint with what they did with Brock which paid off big, also how they fast tracked Poatan which again worked out well for them.

I honestly would not mind at all if they signed him now (1-0 like Brock was), gave him one fight against a stylistically vulnerable top 10 guy, then if he won gave him a title shot next year off the back of it. They gave Brock a title shot at 2-1.

All of these guys are looking like monsters outside UFC. Then they go to UFC, and get trashed by Tallison Teixeira.

Training with Jones as a hyped HW with little experience and an existing SA allegation. Blue chip UFC prospect.

Gable Steveson demolishes opponent in 15 seconds at DBX 4, makes pitch to join the UFC | MMA Fighting https://share.google/U4zULurTGphsOL1gF

Looks like he's interested in a move to the UFC.

Also looks like he might have quite a lot of potential for a future of beating people up!
He should sign 3 fight contract with Oktagon or KSW and then negotatiate with UFC as champ of OKTAGON or KSW. Like in LFA he is crushing cans without any significant rank. Champ in LFA is worldwide ranked #119 . Oktagons #3 is #92 worldwide, #2 is #72 worldwide, #1 is #49 worldwide and recently signed Buday is #42 or something...

-He could easily ask for high contract and instantly fight in UFC top 10-5 as Keita if he snatched OKTAGON title...and test himself aswell.
