News Gable Stevenson calls out UFC

I think he needs to hit 3-0 before making the jump - no reason he can't fight again in LFA at the end of this year if they can find a warm body.

Yes, levels of wrestling aren't any guarantee no matter how high. That was my point.

Unless you are talking mid-90s MMA. Gable definitely could have beaten Fred Ettish.

I hope he does come to the UFC (moderately exciting), I just am not at all convinced he will be championship level when even at HW there could be 1-2 guys that actually would match up well with an inexperienced wrestler in a 5-round fight. Let's see how he develops.
I agree -- I'm excited about him and have high hopes, but it's certainly too early to tell much. He may even take down some tough guys only to gas out when they get back up a couple times. We have seen this happen.

Yeah, we were shocked when that first started happening in MMA- like when Mo Smith defeated Coleman. We aren't so shocked anymore because grappling doesn't dominate like it did in the early UFCs, you need more to win.

Is that his second win now??

I don't know, beat up a few more people quickly them join the UFC.

He can pick up 10 wins this year, pad that resume. UFC will only give him one fight per year.

Yeah he needs to keep going in the feeder league for a bit. Only 2-0 and promising but still very green.

Honestly at this point with the HW division being what it is I feel like they should just say fuck it and go full Brock with him. Sign him now, put him against someone like Lewis right off the bat, then if he wins give him a shot at the Tom/Gane 2 winner. Just go all in and see how things land.
Hopefully just in time for the WH card. What better then a USA Olympic gold medalist.

Get a few more wins then the UFC will come calling, only 25 which is a baby at HW so no need to rush at all even if the division needs bodys.

Yeah, the MMA meta has for sure changed throughout the years. Buchecha / Buday was an example of how the times have changed; taking people down (even with world class grappling) in MMA context just isn't what it used to be. You have to be able to supplement your world class skills with high level training and ridiculous stamina. Even then, you still may see folks fall short because they didn't have the right gameplan.

He's still young, super athletic, great wrestling, training with Jones so we'll see how he improves, can he take a punch etc.

UFC will def look to sign him for that white house card. Sure they'd like to see him get few more LFA wins then debut next summer. Really I bet they'd rather he'd have done next years contender series as the marquee attraction but with white house card and him being an american olympian having his debut on that card's prelims would make sense.

and with PFL who I'm sure would sign him now and offer him 6 figures immediately its gonna mean UFC has to sign him quickly.

Guy looks impressive, clearly an athlete capable of pounding out severe punishment.

is the guy he's fighting an actual bus driver ?

No LF, it was allegedly a passenger...
a bus drivers would've needed to be sober.
