News Gable Stevenson calls out UFC

Bo Nickal part 2?
I believe Gable Steveson will do much better. He's clearly got power and isn't afraid to get into a fist fight. Bo Nickal would never fight in a Dirty Boxing event like that.

He's also a higher caliber wrestler than Bo, in a division that has a historically weak level of average wrestling ability. He could very likely wrestle his way to a UFC championship fight.

They'd have signed Steveson if he didn't fuck up his WWE run so badly.

They'd have given him the Bo Nickal treatment, I'm quite sure.

But given he did burn the WWE and is a complete jerk, I don't think smashing up a tomato can in a variant rule set is gonna do it.

Let him fight 3 more times in LFA.

It's not like the UFC is losing money by not signing him, the guy is stone cold in terms of momentum.

Needs more time. I am sure Dana would want him to go through contenders for the views.

Yes, levels of wrestling aren't any guarantee no matter how high. That was my point.

Unless you are talking mid-90s MMA. Gable definitely could have beaten Fred Ettish.

I hope he does come to the UFC (moderately exciting), I just am not at all convinced he will be championship level when even at HW there could be 1-2 guys that actually would match up well with an inexperienced wrestler in a 5-round fight. Let's see how he develops.
Last 2 Olympic gold medalist in the UFC became champions. One became a 2 division champion. Don't kid yourself.

Bo Nickal part 2?
I just saw the man leap over the ropes like nothing after knocking a man out with the paws while being a wrestling specialist sponsored and cosigned by Jones. This looks a little realer than Bo fucking Nick don’t you think?

It depends, doesn't seem like he's taken a solid punch yet, so who knows how he'll react to getting hurt. I feel like he could do a good job, he seems to be a dick similar to Jon Jones, so they probably get along really well during training lol.

Need to see him against better competition, though.

Yea that's a great point. It's one thing when he's bulldozing cans, but how will he react when he gets hit by a top tier UFC heavyweight punch?

More like Mark Madsen part 2. he might make some noise with the unranked fighters but will hit a wall when he fights ranked guys, unless he masters the Jones Eye Poke.

To be fair it's the heavyweight division in 2025. Almeida/Waldo Acosta/Derrick Lewis/Tybura are all top 10. You telling me Gable's wrestling alone wouldn't put him top 10?

Get him in UFC right now, UFC HW is dreadful, we need new guys, give him some unskilled slop like Tafa and let Gable get a quick easy win and gain experience and go from there.

he beat a 4-3 green mma fighter that's on a 3 fight loss streak before making this is 4th loss in a row, calm down, he needs a bit more growing to do.
it is heavyweight in 2025 tho... so he's basically already top 5-10 in the UFC(maybe higher) without even being there yet. Doesn't the UFC heavyweight roster only have like 20 guys total n a lot of them are fat old men? It's like women's featherweight. You're top 10 ranked in the division by just simply existing

They took in brock after only 1 can crush win & the UFC HW roster had way more depth back then. Brock's wrestling credentials are not even in the same solar system as gable's.

Well it's heavyweight. We all saw handy and that other guy fight last week. I'm sure hr will do fine

And numerous Olympic and top-level wrestlers have NOT won a title or have failed altogether, so we see who is kidding themselves. Not even sure what your point is- that it is some kind of guarantee of a championship? We already know it isn't by way of fact.

If the division doesn't pick up any new contenders that have under 50% body fat, with some real potential, I think he could make it to the title fight before too long.

What got missed in the fight eye poke fight was that it never got to the point where it went to the ground- it may end really quickly in the rematch when it does. I don't know how Gable will match up, but it will be interesting.

There's only been 4 Olympic gold medalists in the UFC. Henry Cejudo ( 2 division UFC champ), Kayla Harrison (BW champ), Kevin Jackson ( UFC Tournament champion), and Mark Schultz ( 1-0 in UFC and retired). They are on a completely different level discipline wise and athleticism wise then other "high level wrestlers" and Olympic "runner ups"

Honestly at this point with the HW division being what it is I feel like they should just say fuck it and go full Brock with him. Sign him now, put him against someone like Lewis right off the bat, then if he wins give him a shot at the Tom/Gane 2 winner. Just go all in and see how things land.
I agree with all of that except Lewis. He's one of those guys that can be dominated for 14 minutes and sneak in a KO just before 3rd round bell rings. Give him a HW fatty who doesn't have too much KO power, at least for his first fight.

I never said anything about gold. So again- you are saying this is a guarantee of a championship?

lol BTW on Kevin Jackson- 2 armbars in a row (one in 30 seconds); he did NOT fare well in the UFC. Even way back at that point in the 90s it wasn't a guarantee. He won a tournament of guys that couldn't grapple.

Fact of the matter is 3 out of 4 Olympic gold medalists won belts or a tournament. The other retired undefeated in the UFC. Don't let facts and logic discourage you from forming an opinion, though.
