my thoughts exactly. Dude tried everything else to not do mma which is fine if other shit is what you want to do but this is like the backup backup backup plan.

Doesnt mean if he does fight he cant have some success or get decent but how much of his heart is really in this when shit gets tough?

What joke of a sport pays its employees/contractors only 14% of the income even though they are responsible for 100%?
No fighters, no income.

Think about that.

And if I would have the drive to be as good a wrestler to win gold at the olympics I wouldn´t want to ruin a possible carrer in another sport with dumbfuck entertainment wrestling. Good he is out there, he can try other opportunitys.
And for a possible UFC move: everything is better than getting beat up for 12/12 or 15/15 he would get from uncle Dana.
I don´t see any reason for an intelligent college and sport student to prefere a career in MMA. Some will get more with NIL deals than they would get for fighting at MMA. And nobody punches them in the face for it.
But if some criminals and cheaters like McGregor or JBJ are the stars and the head of the organisation is slapping his wife in public nobody should be surprised. There are enough people out there with some kind of moral.

Bellator tried that and pretty much all of their College wrestling pickups flamed out. Not even Ed Ruth who was an amazing wrestler managed to stick the landing once the opposition got tough, and don't forget the UFC already tried this with Makhov, an Olympian, who got cold feet in the end.

If guys don't want it they will just sink eventually. Gable doesn't want it, it's clear from him not only picking two different sports before MMA (yeh pro wrestling isn't a sport per se), but amounting to nothing in either of them.

We're long past the "highly decorated guy automatically becomes a contender if he crosses over" stage of the sport. And HW has not been kind to wrestlers who can't strike for years now.

MMA is much different than most sports and you got to really love it and have drive for it to even enter the cage, let alone be successful at it.

It is one thing to accidentally get hurt in football or baseball or whatever. MMA you literally are going to get hurt, period. Your being locked in cage with another man looking to pound you out. You have to be wired a certain way to do that for a living. I'm not sure Gabe is wired that way.
