It's sort of crazy that you think the Trump GOP is somehow in greater alignment with these positions than centrist democrats.

I also have high regard for Yang. I have taken flack for defending him against the charge that he is a libertarian trojan horse secretly plotting to dismantle the social safety net.

I never said that Trump is a progressive. Why do you continue to make assumptions about me? It is really dishonest and I'm not going to respond anymore, sorry. I came on here to talk about Yang, not Trump.

Yeah makes sense.

Trump and the GOP are actively trying to take healthcare from people especially those with pre existing conditions.

He's also cutting food stamps, consumer and environmental protections, eroding away the Earned Income Credit.

It makes perfect sense for a Bernie fan to support that over Klobuchar

At least he has a reasonable response to Gabbard being a grandstanding sack of shit.

I don't dislike Klobuchar, but I don't think she's really earned her super-serious pragmatist cred. She had a bipartisan bill with Ben Sasse (rofl) last year that was pretty terrible.

I understand not liking Klubochar and I get being taken in by Trump's "anti establishment" platform the past go round but at this point he's a known commodity

Andy Yang and Tulsi are the only normal candidates on the left. But the USA aint ready for an Asian president.

He's everything the left should love. Smart, well spoken, "PoC", has a young fanbase and broad appeal. Why they don't get behind him blows me away and just shows they are more concerned with status quo and not rocking the boat.

Why do you say that? I get the whole Asians are invisible thing, believe me it drives me nuts. I absolutely cringe when people ask Asians "Where are you from?" but with that being said our country has moved past the point of voting based on color. Bernie and Yang are getting more black support than the black candidates and we just had a black guy in office who had many white voters. Americans are ready for change and they don't care what package that comes in.

What kind of moran would think Yang would make a remotely good president?

Oh..

At least you're applying yourself to the political process. Hopefully, through your exposure, you'll come to realize that Yang isn't a good candidate and that every single Democratic candidate, including Yang, would be a massive improvement over Trump.

Meh, every candidate has irrational supporters.

The big problem with Yang is that he's stupid, his policy knowledge is legitimately the worst of the entire Democratic field (although probably better than Trump's), and his signature policy is poorly thought-out.

It's really, really disappointing that UBI couldn't be injected into the mainstream by a candidate who actually has a strong grasp on economic and fiscal policy, but policy wonks are generally too modest to run for the presidency without requisite political experience. And the people who are immodest enough to run for the highest office despite lacking any qualifications are generally not all that bright and are not likely to have good policy knowledge.
I agree with all of this except that Yang is stupid. I think he’s a very intelligent guy who’s policy (does have have more than one worth noting?) is poorly thought out and based on a flimsy assumption. It’s fucking bad and I’ve been railing on the guy but he’s bright. (Brown, Columbia law, successful entrepreneur)

I couldn’t agree more on how bad a candidate he is though.

Sounds like you don’t understand what the left actually loves and should re-evaluate.

Dumb people can do well in school. Trump went to Wharton and Rudy went to NYU Law. The guy clearly lacks the intelligence to both understand the complexities of entitlements and their relationships to other political topics and to appreciate his own shortcomings. Listening to him in interviews when he tries to talk about complex topics is criiiinge.

He is trying to replace the safety net, to some degree, with his freedom dividend or whatever the fuck he calls it. Disabled folks are worse off, for example.

I guess we have a different definition as to what intelligence is. I have zero disagreement on the other stuff. He’s atrocious on policy imo.

Rudy isn’t dumb he’s just corrupt and nuts. And I would bet that daddy got Trump into Wharton (and we know one professor said he was the dumbest student he ever taught).

Dude, idk. Have you seen some of Rudy's interviews? He constantly fumbles super basic legal concepts and, if Republican voters had any shame at all, he'd have ended Trump's presidency 2-3 times by divulging confidential client information on live television.

Maybe it's senility, but right now Rudy might be dumber than Trump. Compare that to, say, Dershowitz, who is shameless and corrupt but is still quite sharp.

UBI is a great idea for a short term temporary solution, but it actually fails to address any serious issues. For a presidential campaign it’s a narrow and shortsighted goal. I hoped Yang would’ve expanded on it by now.

Still believe he would make for an excellent pick for Bernie’s campaign. He has good small business and automation insight that is appreciated

I definitely think that could be the case. He was a successful prosecutor and mayor (I disagree on this but he was popular). I think he’s either lost his marbles or just stopped hiding it.

I’ll defer to you on the legal stuff. Could he be bullshitting?

Yes. And he will ride the peak to the perfect climax.

But the Tang Fang told me to believe in teh MATH. Did they lie to me about teh Maffs? Lmao

I actually kinda like Castro, its unfair that they tried to make him a bad guy at one of the debates for pointing the obvious fact that Biden is showing signs of memory loss. He probably goes a little too far left even for me on immigration but outside of that he should be up there instead of Pete and Amy.
