Rumored Yep, Jones wants that 30 mil to fight Tom. Reasonable or not?

I think it's both

Jones knows he's much older and vulnerable and at the end of his career and if he's going to step in there for the big fight he wants the big money. He's also arguably the goat and has sort of earned the right to call the shots

But from the ufcs point of view fuck its fuck no. They start having to pay champions like that and it's really going to ding the bottom line and it is in their best interests to keep fighters fighting for the minimum to make the walk.

I think jones is righter though. Time is coming for him , he can't fight forever and each time he walks to the cage his odds of getting shadowrelmed are higher and his main goal at this point should be to max out money.

And the UFC is willing to pay it, according to Joe Rogan.

Would be great if Jon got the 30 mill and then somehow managed to grind out a 5 round snooze fest victory.

1.2 million PPV buys, which is a reasonable mid estimate for this fight, at $70 a pop would net around $84,000,000.

I don't think they'll pay anyone not named McGregor (and not him anymore after the trial) $30M who can't provably sell 2 million PPVs.
That would net $140M off the PPV alone, which would more than cover a guaranteed payout post production/espn cut/Dana black jack money/etc.

Contrary to some people belief, Jon isn't some super draw, which is why they had issues paying him that exorbitant amount in the first place. Even with the months of nut hugging promos, I doubt him vs Stipe sold over my initially calculated 1.2 million, in fact I'd heavily bet against it.
I would argue he was a draw when he fought DC. That rivalry in itself was a draw.

Jones was obviously going to price himself out. Not even Coner has seen 15 million dollars for a ufc fight let alone 30.

No single fighter deserves that much money. The only reason Jones wanted that much for Ngannou and now Aspinall is because he legit thinks he could lose. Did he demand $30M for Stipe?

Before Jon Jones’s fight, Dana White asserted that if ‘Bones’ decided to not retire from the sport after UFC 309 then he would definitely have to defend his title against Tom Aspinall sooner or later and it appears that it might happen sooner than expected. But the amount Jones is asking for the fight may be an obstacle in the clash. How much is Jones asking for the fight? Well, according to some sources, ‘Bones is asking $30 million.

Interestingly, this is the same amount that Jon Jones asked to fight Francis Ngannou, “In his deal, he’s talking he wants $30 million guaranteed. The way that this works is, these guys all share in the pay-per-view,” said Dana White back in 2021. Back then, White called it ‘Tyson Fury’ type of money and did not entertain the request. Almost four years later, will we see a different response?

Does Jones deserve 30 mil for a standard title defense or is he trying to price himself out again?

I hated how things were handled, but at this point I think it's REASONABLE!

The UFC created this monster, hyped Jones, elevated him to the position he's in, so now it's only fair to support this and honor his position by making history with this payment and with the heavyweights.

That would Gross $84,000,000... net is the amount gained after all expenses are paid....

P.s. Jones highest PPV ever all time is 860k...

So lets start there 860k x 70 = 60.2 M...

He is asking for 50% of the gross ppv buys... and then you have Tom and every other fighter on the card which means you basically guarantee the rest of the card is FLW and WMMA to save money...

Its a ton... the UFC would have to basically decide to not make money on this PPV to make Jon and the fans happy.

The UFC can afford to lose money on one PPV.... but i doubt they want to start the precedent that a champ can demand a huge pay day and get it without the PPV buys to make it happen... Conor didn't ask for guaranteed money... he asked for more per PPV because he knew he could sell the fight.

boxers earn much more
Lol that fight made $50 million .. and paid $150 million... you can't call what the Saudis are doing business. And there wouldn't be UFC if they acted like the Saudis wasting there oil money to try and look good to the world.

This will def NOT sell 2 million ppvs

Khabib vs Conor was a perfect storm, and that shit is just not gonna happen here
It can happen here . We just need a mainstream incentive

Why not, just make the fight.

The genius in what Jon is doing by asking for this sum and having the UFC comply, is he's setting that up as the standard for future fights. Say if he wins vs Tom and they want to make the Perreira super fight, well that's another 30 big ones.

I've heard Dana say it would happen, but I haven't heard anything from Jon, so we will see.

Jon has been seen ducking interviews about Tom, that's about it.
