Tuki did do it with Francis vs fury and AJ. Even Francis vs renan was a Saudi Arabia event. Why didn't they just do that w Francis if it's that easy?
That would have done way more buys than Jones vs Tom.
I can't wait for Dana "jones is only 4th in p4p he isn't worth top p4p guy money" soundbite. In another 6 months, negotiations start.
Dana: Jon sucks, he was never any good, he is scared of Tom, he has chicken legs, not even a pound for pound champion.
Dana will turn on Jon. Jon wants to be paid and Dana won't have that.
Not that bad, I bet on Trump to win. So either way I would not feel too bad,
If Jon walks around MAGAville he might get lynched, as an older white guy I certainly will not. No Muslim ban for me, not gay, not Mexican. Trump's incompetence does not affect me much compared to the average American.
It might suck if his plan to cut social security for people with pensions goes through though.
Jones: "... I don’t need him at all and he needs me and that’s a good place to be in a negotiation.”
This is so unhinged. Yes everyone and their mom thought Jones vs cormier was a bigger event than Francis vs Gane. Jones had won how many fights in his goat career and re-up his price alot to get there and I'm pretty sure you made up his 10m too. USING a fantasy 10m then upping it to 15m then transposing it to Francis pay.The proof isn't on me. All the numbers are publicly reported with the exception of Ngannou's PPV cut from the UFC. You know as well as I do that those numbers aren't reported, but Jon Jones has leaked that he made over $10M for one of the Cormier fights.
So we know ballpark Jon Jones made roughly $10-15M for the 800k PPV buys sold against Cormier. Again, are you saying that Jon Jones sells more PPVs than Ngannou? Yes or no?
Francis refused to sign a new contract after beating Stipe as he didn't want to lock himself in with UFC any longer so no, he never got champ money. He got the same money he got taking regular fights. That's why he got a lot less than most champs. He's said a few times the most he got was $600k as challenger. Don't know what he got vs Gane.I think it's funny that you believe Ngannou made so little money.
You're a joke for believing Dana's propaganda. UFC fighters are not legally allowed to discuss their true salaries including PPV cuts. It's in their contracts. If you had any brains, you would realize that by definition any numbers they publicly disclose must be a lie.
But not Jones.Tuki did do it with Francis vs fury and AJ. Even Francis vs renan was a Saudi Arabia event.
The UFC didn't have the relationship it has today with Saudi Arabia back then. Dana and the UFC were also dead set against the boxing crossover again. Jones vs Tom is something the UFC wants and controls they just need Jones payment covered. But not Jones.
I wonder why
UFC's first 8-figure fight purse and yet another record for Jonny Bones
It's not just about making a profit, it's about maximising profits. They have formulas they work to. Normally they try to cover fighter pay just with the gate. That's why Conor tickets are so expensive and they've now tried to charge those prices for Jon. They already pay Jon far more than they normally would for someone who brings in his numbers. They're paying him more than Brock but he doesn't bring in close to his PPV numbers. While I really want to see the fight I have strong doubts they'll be willing to raise Jon's pay any more.Dana can pay Jones 15 million to fight Tom and still make a profit, the card will just be top heavy. It will most likely be Jones last fight win or lose. But if he wins, Jones is gonna hold up that belt for as long as humanly possible out of spite.
It's hard to compare Jon and Brocks PPV numbers because the PPV price in 2009 was $44.95. Roughly 1 million buys for Brock brings about the same money as 500k buys for Jon today just as an example. It's not just about making a profit, it's about maximising profits.
