It's insane to call a billionaire who inherited most of his money, became a TV star, and then president an "outsider." And given that his only major legislative accomplishment was another tax cut for rich people and corporations, it's equally insane to call him anti-establishment. What more could he have done to help the establishment?

I think a lot of people don't want another Obaman.
You are right about Desantis being more electable. But a battle with Trump wouldn't go over well. Trump has a huge fan base and will rip Desantis apart. A lot of people will view Desantis negatively after that, kind of kill both of them. Say what you want about Trump, but the guy can fight. I saw that attribute as to what got him elected and also hurt his Presidency, he wanted to fight everyone.

Hell Desantis did not do well in the debates for Governor against a drug riddled socialist. Deficit Donny would have him on tilt. Most people seem to forget Desantis only beat said drug riddled socialist by less than 1% of the vote. He is lucky to be facing most likely Charlie Crist who is a flip flopping scumbag who will tell you what you want to hear and has no ethos.
Looking back I have rarely voted for a Dem for Florida governor. The only time was for whomever ran against that Medicare thief, Rick Scott. The Dem candidates have been god awful.

My preference is Ron DeSantis for President, but if DeSantis should become governor of Florida again and Trump President of the US for a second term, I can imagine that being a winning combination also.

I didn't believe that Trump would have a chance at a second term. He really more or less blew up toward the end of his term. In some respects can't blame him for that. And in other respects can blame him some. But regardless, the Democrats and Biden have gone to far with their far left policies. Their policies of high inflation, war on fossil fuel industry, open border, teaching CRT in schools, wanting sex eduction to be taught in elementary schools, etc have many Americans upset and sadly suffering due to high inflation and other issues. I can see America re-electing Trump again due to how badly the Democrats have governed. The crazy Democrat media will once again have a love hate relationship with that.

Depending on the midterms, I am thinking Newsom might hold off and won't blow his load on 2024 with republicans having a lot of momentum.

However, I do see commentary, even from right wingers that 2022 isn't going to be as big of a red wave as it had been looking and that recent polling is showing democrats gaining some ground.
