Crime Trump Administration Sent Legal Immigrant to Prison in El Salvador

It's not "sloppy" it's intentional. Trump us using an unsympathetic pawn in order to test his power, and it's going very well for him. He was able to ignore a federal district court orders, and now he's showing he can get away with ignoring the SCOTUS. Even mocking their demands with memes.

This is all about setting precedent so when he wants to wipe his ass with the constitution again he can and nobody will have the standing to stop him.

I would say it's 4 parts.

1. The administration is trying to scare new illegal people from crossing the border.
2. Trying to get some illegal immigrants to self deport.
3. Trying to test the limits of executive power to mass deport. Eventually leading it to the Supreme Court.
4. ICE is being pressured to deport as many people as possible by the administration so they're doing it sloppily with a machete as opposed to a scalpel.

They must be recruiting crazy right-wing agents. I can't imagine a professional carrying out these orders. I would resign.

Not really. All they need is a "just doing my job" type goon. Politically neutral is good enough. Maybe have an internal pay quota for arrests the way some LE does. That's the beauty of heirarchy + bureaucracy. You can always kick responsibility up to someone who wont claim it.

I mean, BOTH Presidents also claimed they have NO power to return falsely detained people. Lol

Comforting thought to sleep on.

You have to be pretty dense to take that literally.

Rightwing pundits for years have said that Trump's haters take him too literally, but not seriously. And his supporters take him seriously, but not literally.
The master negotiator who scores remarkably high on his cognitive test (literally, according to him) couldn’t use the correct words in the correct way here?

He has MS-13 symbols tattooed on his knuckles”.

you want me to believe that Trump left the word symbol out knowing people would just assume that’s what he was saying? Or is it perhaps more likely he saw some divisive horse shit online, didn’t fact check it and instead repeated it on a national platform.

They’re eating the dogs! They’re eating the pets!

May I ask you something? Do you think initial illegal entry should be prosecuted? I respect and understand both sides, so I'm not interested in judgment. I'm genuinely curious about your thoughts. If you alluded to it here already, I apologize.

I am all for enforcing our immigration policies in a sensible way. I may have drifted beyond my depth by trying to play the devil's advocate. I have read and heard different information and I am obviously not an expert on the immigration matters.

I am in favor of looking at the totality of circumstances. How long has the person been in country? Are they a productive member? Do they pay taxes? Have they stayed out of trouble or was it at least very minor? Etc.

I am in favor of deporting violent criminals, persistent petty criminals, current gang members, etc.

I am far more in favor of abiding by our constitution and case law. Trump has already stacked the deck with 6-3 conservative majority with the SCOTUS and even then can't be bothered to do things in a legal manner. That's what bothers me most. I am a centrist democrat perhaps old school republican(I am left and right on different issues) and the current administration worries me.

There are already cases of naturalized citizens or even those born in the country being detained for hours or days and interrogated for bullshit reasons. Even when a birth certificate is produced ICE is still hesitant to release the person.

They violated his constitutional rights and forced him to unlock his electronic devices and go through privileged/confidential information.

Then you have random idiotic incidents like these where border patrol/ICE deport tourists for stupid reasons....

Has the us at least found another guy to beat this poor wife while Garcia is away?

Wife of wrongly deported Maryland man Kilmar Abrego Garcia forced into safe house after government posts address online

Homeland Security shared copy of protective order from 2021 revealing family’s address on social media

Why Abrego Garcia didn't get due process: He got a "withholding of removal" order. That means he can be deported anywhere EXCEPT El Salvador, but he always was in deportation proceedings from prior.

What the government needed to do was get the withholding removed by showing in court the gangster danger he claimed was no longer a threat. That is actually the case now because El Salvador's president did a huge purge of gang activity in the country. Barrio-18 doesn't exist anymore.

But they skipped this step. So that's where there is the real controversy.

But even if they did that step, Abrego Garcia was going to eventually get deported no matter what.

Wife filed the paperwork anyone can look it up. Title of article should be wife mad protection order she filed for exists

A statement from DHS to The Independent said “these are public documents that anyone could get access to.”
