Should Dricus Du Plessis be stripped from his belt?

Should Dricus Du Plessis be stripped from his belt?

For a guy who just became champion, he has a lot of demands in who, where and when he wants to fight. He seems like the ultimate diva.

I actually miss Izzy at least he was very active champion.

Anywho, do you think he should be stripped from his belt, if he doesn't get an official fight signed up in the next month or so?

Update: Yes the votes are loud and clear and you guys have spoken. My mistake in asking this question. Thought it would be interesting conversation nonetheless. But yeah I'm clearly in the wrong.

stop being a retard.

dricus has only had the title like a month and half, and you're criticizing him for not being an active champion?

Sherdog will hate on anyone for anything it seems.

Yeah people are totally misinterpreting DDP's point of view, he's basically said he'd wait for UFC Africa ie if the UFC came to him today and said we'll have an event in Africa in December he'd wait until that happens, which makes sense.

But if there is no Africa event coming soon he will fight somewhere else this year no problem. People have really misinterpreted his position like he was going to hold out & not fight again at all in 2024 if UFC doesn't go to Africa lol.

If he doesn't have anything lined up by July, strip him. Same goes for any other champions that are strangle-holding their belts for promotion purposes.

I know it's quite a outlandish question. But trust me, you'll see after a few months past. This question will look more reasonable. lol
While you are at making polls, make one asking if the AbuDhabiweight champ should be stripped because he has no fight sceduled, is only fighting at his terms and has almost been sitting half a year out.
Let’s see what kind of answers we will get there.

Nah i want Izzy to style on him besides Him nor strickland were never gonna hold the belt
for that long any way so. let him have his moment like strickland. ROFL. it wasnt that long ago when strickland
won it and everybody was so happy...

but if izzy doesnt come back then done watching the middle weight division.

unless khamzat or another specimen enters 185 ima skip on them middle weight bouts,
cause right now the division is BORING.

No, he shouldn’t be stripped, but he should be made to fight the next willing and qualified challenger at the next available venue.
Forget all that “legacy fight in Africa” nonsense. He just won the belt ffs.

Not wanting to turn around short notice after just winning the belt in a war is perfectly reasonable. Majority of champions fight around every 6-7 months. Now if in a few months he’s refusing to fight anybody then maybe. But at this point, there is nothing unreasonable happening.

The entire "new guard" of champs is a bunch of spoiled brats.

No one wants to defend their title, they all want second belts without doing any of the work to earn it, they all want to pick and choose who, where and where they fight.

Bunch of babies.

Yeah how dare DDP not have his next fight lined up less than 2 months after he won the title, that piece of shit!

The words I used were spoiled brat and he is one of the biggest of them all.

Has barely had the belt a few weeks and already proclaiming who has to wait and where the fights will be and who is worthy if he even defends at all because he was talking about 205 before he even won the strap.

Dude is literally demanding the organization go to a new continent in order for a guy who won 6 title fights to be allowed the honor of fighting his no defenses razor close split decision ass.

That's true, he just won the belt, but his demands are becoming ridiculous I think.
This is the part where the UFC wants to have its "Cake" so to speak. If they were a REAL sport they would have a hard and fast rule like defend in a year or you are stripped. But they do like to use their leverage against some fighters and others they run with them. They create Interim titles and strip them at will (Colby & Tony) but some champs can never defend and the UFC waits forever to strip them (Conor). Talk of stripping him two months in is crazy. You don't know what is being said behind closed doors and at this level its all negotiations now. DDP has the title and has a relatively short window to make as much as he can and if he doesn't maximize things for himself he will retire broken and broke like the majority of MMA fighters.

UFC has responsibility to Offer him fights -- and if he turns them down?

Then UFC must move forward with an Interim Belt.

If DDP continues making demands, then Strip him immediately and Move On.
