How many champions would risk the belt within 6-9 months of getting it? I am sure UFC will strip him if he continues to do this for another half a year.

That's true, he just won the belt, but his demands are becoming ridiculous I think.

Demands don't add 10 months to take his title away though sir.
He can demand all he wants, and the UFC will only give him what they want to.

I will say this about Adesanya. He fought very frequently and defended against all comers.

Yes because he lost to Strickland.

And he's a diva.

Strickland would fight anyone anywhere anytime as champ.

Definitely shouldn’t be stripped but he’s rapidly burning through fan goodwill with little to show for it

Why aren't we stripping Leon, Islam and Pantoja? lets even strip Aspinall along with DDP?

Anyone want to take a bet DDP fights more times this year and than Islam and Leon?

Only FW belt has been defended since he won lol. May as well ask this question for FLW, LW, WW and HW champs since they don't have fights booked with this logic.

But yeah this is mostly a thread
This is very clearly a thread IMO !

No, seriously, nothing wrong in discussing things, but sometimes people are still gonna react like old ladies, as if you were aggressively flailing your penis on the street. I myself often roleplay as an old lady on karate forums.

It's obviously a bit soon to be considering stripping him, but people were annoyed by what he said, and I think that he sounded like an idiot, I don't really know why he thought that it was a good idea to say that. Moreover he knows very well that the UFC holds about every fighter by the balls, especially a guy like him that has probably close to zero leverage.

For a guy who just became champion, he has a lot of demands in who, where and when he wants to fight. He seems like the ultimate diva.

I actually miss Izzy at least he was very active champion.

Anywho, do you think he should be stripped from his belt, if he doesn't get an official fight signed up in the next month or so?

Update: Yes the votes are loud and clear and you guys have spoken. My mistake in asking this question. Thought it would be interesting conversation nonetheless. But yeah I'm clearly in the wrong.

Congrats -- You hurt a lot of feelings. :)

STAND YOUR GROUND!

They should strip O’Malley of his belt today since he hasn’t defended it yet

I don't blame him as much as I blame the culture that has shaped how people act these days.

People like Conor started this shit, and Dana let him get away with it. And now everyone is picking their fights, and demanding title fights in other divisions.
Him not fighting injured isn’t picking fights like Conor

I never said it was. If he's injured he absolutely should recover, unless it's going to be a very long time that will hold up the division.

But it's become common of champions to try and choose their opponents to cherry pick the easiest fights that make the most money. If he's playing that game at all, it not a good look for him.

Being the number 1 contender doesn't matter to a lot of champs like that, and they would rather fight out of their own divisions without risking their championship status. A nice safety net if they lose in another division.

And now, people aren't even clearing out the division before demanding title fights at other weight classes.

It's beyond fucking annoying at this point with how everyone wants the opportunity to hold multiple belts at once. I miss when the rule was that you vacate your belt and start over in a new division, instead of getting gifted a title shot over people who have been climbing the ranks in said division.

I can understand wanting a venue in your country, but I'm not on board with picking your opponent. A champ should be confident in defending the belt against the number one contender. If you're avoiding fights because you're scared of a hard fight where you might lose your belt, then you're not deserving of respect that a champion should have.

We'll see what happens, because I like DDP, but only if he doesn't turn into another whiney cunt who demands everything.

No, he is talking like a long time dominant champ though.
