R.I.P. CM Punk's MMA career

Prime WWE CM Punk had a level of drawing ability based on Lesnar or Conor. It's amazing he gave that up to do UFC for some time.
But why? I just dont get it. Skinny, ugly, terrible tattoos, and 0 charisma..... what did the trailer park WalMartians see in him?

A lot of the people who step into the cage, feel like they have atleast a chance to win. But in CM Punk's case, he must've known that he was going to get his ass kicked. Yet he still did it. Twice.

You could consider that to be impressive on some level, though mostly just insanely stupid.
can we finally stop with this stupid narrative that CM Punk is brave?

Dude most of us would step in there once or twice for 1 million dollars. If Cm Punk did this for free I would respect him but the guy got paid a lot.

He is an embarrassment to the sport and I never want to see him again even in the attendance.

It's possible. But from what I hear he was getting rag-dolled in staged exhibitions. Couldn't have given him much confidence for an actual fight.

When guys going light on you are kicking your ass, it's not hard to imagine what's going to happen in an actual contest.
You're assuming he wasn't training to lose. He knew from the moment he started watching tape of MMA fights that he didn't want that smoke. That's why he fought two unranked BJJ fighters and lost in embarrassing fashion, but suffered little damage in either fight.

Most licensed pilots who step into an aircraft, feel like they have at least a chance to land safely.

But in CM Punk's case, he must've known that he was going to crash. Yet he still did it. Twice.

...

The guy was delusional, not brave. Its brave to run into a burning building or volunteer in a dangerous neighborhood. This jackass was completely unqualified for MMA but thought he could do it because he watched it on television.

That is next level delusion and narcissism.

I wouldn't say that he is brave, I would equate what he did to something like Jackass. He put himself at risk for a profit, which, when you really look into it, probably wasn't great enough from his perspective to warrant doing what he did.

It's different for a guy off the street who has no fame or money to his name, to put his body on the line for a million dollars. But for a guy like CM Punk? A guy who had already made his money and had a bit of a celebrity fame? It was a significantly bigger risk considering, again, that there was no chance that it was gonna pay off in the form a win. There's a reason why you haven't seen any other celebrity do this. It's because they have a brand to protect, and being humiliated in front of everybody is not a very good way to protect that brand.

It was essentially the same as some Hollywood actor getting paid, to get his ass beat in a boxing ring by a pro boxer, for millions of people's entertainment.

It's different from guys like Lesnar or Lashley, because those people had legitimate competitive backgrounds which gave them a chance to succeed at the sport.

You can call me Philip, and if you have a problem with me, do show up at Ruke Doofus' gym and we'll settle the matter mano y mano.
You can find me in your bedroom most wednesdays. Just wait till about 3:30 because April likes to cuddle after the deed.

He is signed to a WWE broadcast team but not as a wrestler, signifying that he will likely forget about MMA as he also alluded to not fighting again in previous interviews.

Trust me. Any notions of him thinking that he was going to take the MMA scene by storm, would've been eroded in sparring sessions. He knew he was going to get his ass kicked.
I doubt it. He was paying a fuckload of money to Rufus to train. It would be in Rufus' interest to not be honest with him when he's just so fucking terrible. He's not going to have his sparring guys go hard on his money cow. Look at the sparring footage. Any random idiot could have countered Punk's awful technique, but they didn't. Let the guy think he's legit if he's paying you for it.

Of course it didn't really work out in the end, since Punk got embarrassed by Gall and then trashed by Jackson.

So now he's going back to WWE, where the competition is a little bit easier

You know Wanderlei Silva respects legs of CM Punk...

He's just old and started out very late. He should have done the amateur circuit but he did make million dollars from UFC.

I watched CM Punk in the Girl on the Third Floor movie the other day. Was decent but the story lost it at the end. His acting was much better than his fighting. More bodily fluids in this movie, than a Porno.

Still can't believe they didn't match him up with Penn to get Punk an easy win and title shot lol

I dont watch wrestling so this guy is an enigma to me. I seriously don't get why hes so popular
Plenty of Sherdoggers have trained and fought. I've trained at 4 different gyms and seen hundreds of guys come and go in that time, and watching CM, I genuinely think he would get handled by your average guy with one year's training.

IMO, by watching his fights and training vids, not only was he laughably out of his depths with even low level UFC fighters, but has the aptitude and athleticism to probably lose to your average ammy WW fighter. Literally everything he did was wrong, and he never attempted anything that was correct. I had to turn and walk away when he was on his back and (sort of) in guard, who was also giving him ample opportunity to do something for a good two rounds....but CM obviously couldn't recall a single move to put on a sub, escape to half guard, pull a sweep, switch out and get to his feet, ect. Don't get me started on his boxing.

Shit was embarrassing.

At least he tried and trained hard. I see no problem with it.

Sherdoggers are keyboard warriors with a lot of finger practice.
