R.I.P. CM Punk's MMA career

He’s going back to what he does best, good for him no denying his skill as a professional wrestler on the mic

Shot his shot in mma and failed but at least the man tried, more than most keyboard warriors would ever do

Happy for him. I admire his balls for giving it a shot, but the dude simply doesn't belong in the UFC.

Sucks as wwe wrestler and ufc fighter. Fuck him and his stupid wife...

A lot of the people who step into the cage, feel like they have atleast a chance to win. But in CM Punk's case, he must've known that he was going to get his ass kicked. Yet he still did it. Twice.

You could consider that to be impressive on some level, though mostly just insanely stupid.
he killed kayfabe in one night

Died before landing a single punch in the octagon

Holy shit. Did he really fight 15 minutes in his second fight without landing anything or even getting a good position once?

He landed a slick takedown in his last fight.
Timed it like prime Khabib.

I know we all laugh at him and his pathetic MMA/fighting skills, but i still hespec him for
stepping in to that cage.

Trust me. Any notions of him thinking that he was going to take the MMA scene by storm, would've been eroded in sparring sessions. He knew he was going to get his ass kicked.
Who knows what he was truly thinking.

I often wonder if people around him and sparring partners mislead him or went easy on him

I think a rational person would dare not go on a global stage knowing how bad they really were

Maan there ain't nothing to talk about, there's difference between entertainment fighting & real entertainment fighting when it comes to combat sports "New Breed"...

<TheWire1> Bleed...

Prime WWE CM Punk had a level of drawing ability based on Lesnar or Conor. It's amazing he gave that up to do UFC for some time.

No even closes.... CM Punk was only a draw to those loser smarks, who still chant his stupid name for no reason

He has zero core strength. You can train till the cows come home but if you don’t have a base to work from your just floppy mcfloppy.

Rufus shoulda been doing nothing but core strength workouts then drilled him to throw 1-2 ‘s while keeping the hands up.

He then would at least wouldnt have looked like a retard flailing about like a broken windmill.

But why? I just dont get it. Skinny, ugly, terrible tattoos, and 0 charisma..... what did the trailer park WalMartians see in him?

Wait a minute, you just answered your own question,, the trailer park WalMartians like him because they all look like him lol.

True but had he actually thrown the knee against Gall instead of starting too and hesitating not only would he have had a chance to win he would have had a chance to enter the history books with the fastest KO to date at the time.

Too bad for him he never had the instincts of a natural fighter though.

I mean back in the day he was great at talking shit on the mic. Like Chael/Conor level shit talking, none of which he demonstrated during his UFC appearances, but he was charismatic as hell and drew a shit ton of heat.

He was never a great in-ring performer and always looked awkward as hell from an athletic standpoint, and I don't think he had any type of actual collegiate or even high school wrestling background like a Brock or Jake Hager, so.... yeah no idea why he thought MMA was a good career path.

He's the Chris Weidman of the WWE lol, just got really lucky when he did to peak at a time when wrestlers like Triple H, the Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, etc.. were all getting too old and were retiring around that time.

We have to respect him for having the guts to step in the octagon (that shit gotta be scary), but let's be honest, that was a dumb idea from day 1.

The guy is old as shit, as virtually no MMA experience, isn't particularly gifted (talent, physiques, athleticism) and should have been fighting other amateurs, as a hobby, on regional circuits.

That's a shame the UFC accepted to give that guy 2 fights and a shame that an athletic commission allowed these fights to happen.

Lesnar had some success in the UFC cause he's an anomaly: a very big and gifted guy, with credible olympic wrestling credits. Punk hasn't any of Lesnar's qualities that helped him to be competitive against way more experienced fighters.
