Media Merab doesn't want to fight Umar

Beating a 26 year old doesn't ruin them. Umar is on the precipice of contention, it's time for hard fights. He doesn't need to beat up Pedro Munhoz lmao.
Exactly. 26 years of age. He doesn't need to rush it. Would be a stain on his record and no need for that right now. I want him to take his time and beat someone like Chito for example. Merab is just a horrible match up for everybody. I would actually favor Umar against Sterling lol. Merab... I have no idea.

Font would be willing to fight him too, so would munhoz. Regardless of what you think about these guys, pretty much anyone in the rankings other than the 4 guys you mentioned would be willing to fight for that number 1 spot against merab, and they're all ranked higher than umar.

I don't think rankings are everything. Umar has way more value on his name than most of these guys. Sure Munhoz would he willing to but man....oooph, incredibly pointless fight that nobody wants to seem. Lower top 10 guys coming off losses or with little momentum < surging undefeated 11th ranked guy.

I think Font would rather fight Yan and that's the fight that should be made imo.

Merab seems to think otherwise. He flat out said fighting someone with only four ufc fights and that low of a ranking would be disrespectful to the sport and that he'd rather someone in the top 10. I understand where you're coming from and I agree with you, but that just isn't how Merab seems to see it. He'd rather someone in the top 10, and plenty of people in the top 10 are willing to fight for that number 1 spot.

I agree. I'm just saying, all these guys would be willing to fight for that number 1 spot if given the opportunity, and they're all closer to that opportunity than Umar is in Merab's mind. I've seen rob's coach specifically talk about that fight with merab, and they definitely wouldn't turn that opportunity down if it came up.

Yes, 100%. Given Rob's age, this is his last run and he would take that risk.

Personally, I'd book the division like this

Merab vs. Sandhagen
Yan vs. Font
Song vs. Umar
Chito vs. Martinez
Cruz vs. simon (if cruz still fights, if not then Simon vs. Yanez)

How would you book them? Same question to you @HuskySamoan , under the assumption that merab won't fight umar.

Merab vs Cory
Yan vs Font
Song vs Chito 2 (I don't think Song would accept to fight Umar, he just fought down in the rankings)
Umar vs Simon (perfect time for this imo, they have beef as well)
Yanez vs Martinez

I don't know what to do with Pedro and Dom lol.

Dang this was like a dream fight. Says Umar is rank 11 so it doesn't make sense. They offered him Umar in May but his hand was hurt and he fought Petr with a hurt hand but didn't want the quick turn around. Says he's ready to fight but against someone who makes sense, give him Sandhagen.

Wasn't he ducking sterling too?

Yadong is also asking for a top 5 opponent, called out Merab and has shown no interest in Umar. Font said the same thing, he fought down vs Yanez and now wants to fight up. It's just clear for Umar to get a fight vs someone in the top 10, the UFC has to twist ears.

Your matchups are fine, I wouldn't make them much different. Maybe Chito vs Simon and Martinez vs Munhoz.

So why isn't he fighting the champion again?
lmao @ getting triggered by Merab when Cejudo gets a title shot off doing fuck all for years, and OMalley is already promised the next shot for his one gifted top10 win.

Although a fight between the two would be exciting, I tend to side with Merab's perspective. Considering that Sean O'Malley will fight the winner, it would be logical to match up Merab and Sandhagen as they are both highly ranked fighters who have expressed interest in facing each other. As for Umar, he is a promising prospect who has yet to compete against top-10 opposition in the UFC. In my opinion, a fight against experienced fighters like Dominick Cruz or Pedro Munhoz could serve as a suitable challenge and help establish Umar's standing in the bantamweight division.

Because those guys were given shots first and he is waiting to either fight one of them or watch Aljo move up. Which again, is perfectly reasonable thing for an active fighter on an enormous win streak to do compared to the absolute sped-level rationale for giving Cejudo or O’Malley anything close to a title shot.

He's the number 1 ranked fighter according to the UFC which is the organization where he fights. Him refusing to fight the champion means he should be competing in a different division or elsewhere.

You're a really slow person:
2 people were awarded title fights ahead of Merab before he became the #1 rank in March.

There is no reason for Merab to fight Umar. #1 vs #11?

When has the number 1 contender ever been expected to fight a super dangerous guy from outside the top 10? Feed Merab Sandhagen.

when yan fought suga

Anyway this is further proof to me that Umar beats Merab and everyone.

The division is terrified of him for good reason.

Resorting to insults now. Again, if someone is already ranked number 1 then no exceptions, they should be fighting the champion. Why you can't comprehend that is puzzling.
