We tend to overlook his performance in the film I believe.

It's just such a great film I think that's why.

But what do you think of his performance?

I thought it is about a 7.

Brandon Lee if he lived would have I believe fit the role better.

It is what it is.

So be it.

You're totally right about Brandon Lee. I think it was written with him in mind. He was developing well as an actor.

Yes the directors had him in mind years before they started filming.

I think Keanu fits really well in the movie. Not the best performance of all time by any means, he does not carry the movie with it, but he fits his role well.
I'd say Hugo Weaving did the best in the Matrix, agent Smith is iconic.

He acted liked Keanu Reeves. The question for me then is, did the Keanu Reeves style of acting fit the role? Answer: Perfectly. So, while it wasn't an example of breathtaking acting, as he was perfectly cast, the greatest movie actor in the English-language world (Daniel Day-Lewis?) could not have done a better job.

I think his acting was the same as usual: adequate, but the film depends on the lead being a blank slate, everyman, cubicle worker and in this sense his casting was near perfect.

He is Protagonist, he brings nothing from his previous life to the movie. Not a friend, family member or experience.

Outside of Bram Stoker's Dracula, I never thought Keanu was a bad actor but he did it kind of play the same stoic role for a minute which I think began with Matrix. His performance is a solid 9 in the movie.

Keanu seems like a cool guy, but he's never been a great actor.

He used to be terrible, and over the years he's developed into "acceptable in certain roles"

He was perfectly suited for it.

I'm also just glad it happened because otherwise, we would not have John Wick.

Keanu met Chad Stahelski, his stuntman on THE MATRIX, who would later go on to direct all four WICK films. So it was meant to be.
