I would agree with you, except it was already established in the film that Derek was a prep basketball star. There's no reason to think a star high school player and his boys, can't take some random gang bangers in a game of street ball.

Yeah, its debatable. All I'm saying is that while it may seem ironic(and perhaps that what the writer was going for), it's not implausible that a group of random white guys (led by a known legit hooper) could beat a group of random black dudes (who are probably just average pickup-game hoopers). In any case, that part of the film didn't kill the illusion for me.

His portrayal of Baldwin the IV in "Kindgom of Heaven" was hard too

"This is about your life and mine; it's about decent, hardworking Americans falling through the cracks and getting the shaft because their government cares more about the constitutional rights of a bunch of people who aren't even citizens of this country!".

This is the first time on Sherdog I've seen someone quote Neo-Nazi recruiting propaganda and call it prophetic.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Seems like maybe he could've made the movie better, since we all kinda figured dude would relapse after his brother got smoked...

What a transformation Edward Norton did for this film.

His physical transformation alone was impressive from a skinny guy in his previous film to a buff muscular build.

And his acting was perfect, you honestly believe he was that character.

Primal Fear was his best pure acting performance of his career in my opinion but American History X was a better movie in general.

Yeah it's a great performance along with his transformation. He was very convincing and memorable.
I believe the original ending was going to see him staring into a mirror then shaving his head again (which would be the expected result and showing an ongoing cycle). The ending we have is due to him.

Side note of no relevance..the big guy with dark hair he was in jail with (the dude who raped him) was titled 'huge Aryan' and I think died before or shortly after the movie was released.
