You're totally right about Brandon Lee. I think it was written with him in mind. He was developing well as an actor.

Brandon doesn't fit into a clueless office worker like Keanu did. Keanu Reeves is a pretty lame actor but his lameness suits Neo. It's a transition that actually works.

I disagree, in Rapid Fire before he had to go "kill em all" he portrayed a naive college art student pretty well. Kind of a nerd in Showdown in Little Tokyo too.

He totally would've been a good IT guy...

...and it wouldn't have made a huge difference I don't think.

KR is undoubtedly a very talented actor (one of the most humane too!).
I think he acted very well in The Matrix even because the character he played is well-structured and the storyline fits in with his acting. Great actor. Great movie.

Just above mediocre but it is what it is. Keanu is always Keanu but that is what works for him.

We tend to overlook his performance in the film I believe.

It's just such a great film I think that's why.

But what do you think of his performance?

I thought it is about a 7.

Brandon Lee if he lived would have I believe fit the role better.

He's terrible in The Matix and he's terrible actor. Universally loved for sheer awesomeness, but hes basically terrible in everything he's in, except for the comedic cameo in that asian romance movie and something like Bill and Ted.

And hes fine for John Wick because he has to be complete wooden and unemotional. I dont agree that this works for the Matrix, but I think the things that are good about The Matix survive the onslaught of how terrible of an actor Keanu is.

Although for some bizarre reason I think he was good in Devils Advocate.
