Is the JDM hypetrain dead?

Will have to watch both his and Hafez’s next fights. Could have been a product of two weight cuts in a week. Could have been a product of Hafez being better than expected. Could have been a lot of things, that’s why I need to see what happens next. This fight should give anybody some pause on him though.

My analysis of his fight IQ would be considered fighter bashing.
This is what truly got exposed, he almost spammed guillotine attempted his way to a loss, when a couple of the TD's Hafez completed he could have stuffed. Not very smart decision making in the heat of battle.

It's definitely not looking good. I wanna cope by blaming on the double weight cut but damn. Went from one punching everyone to getting almost beat by Julian lanes brother

No. Real fight fans know the hardest fights are sometimes the ones you're 'supposed' to win, everyone talked it up like just because it's a short notice opponent he has to knock him out in the first minute. When that pressure is on you to perform, and then the opponent ends up being tougher than you realize, thats the outcome you get sometimes. I'm sure cutting weight twice in a week didn't help him either. Bottom line: only casuals think one result on one night is deterministic of a fighter's fate. Don't be casual.

Emeev and Loosa damn near had him submitted........

And hes in a division with grapplers such as

Khamzat
Shavkat
Kamaru
Colby
Belal
Brady
Burns
Chiesa
Rinat
Bonfim

He has youth against some of em in his favor but he is ABSOLUTELY fucked

His striking defense was bad too. I guess you can excuse it by saying he didn't fear Bassil's power, but he did get hit with some good shots. He will get viciously KO'd eventually swinging with no regard for what's coming back like he did tonight.

Dead and buried.

Slow as hell. Sh*t wrestling. Sh*t fight IQ. Mediocre power. Mediocre cardio. Can look good on offence in the striking but way too easy to hit.

Will go nowhere.

I hope he doesn't try back up in Sydney tho.. 3 heavy weight cuts in that amount of time is A
Bad idea

I wouldn't say it's dead. It shouldn't be dead. But I'm now thinking very differently about what was originally supposed to be JDM vs Sean Brady than I did before.

His TDD and cardio is getting exposed tonight
I’m not sure his tdd was exposed. his fight iq was. the only times he was taken down is when he tried to get a submission. He only went to the met because of bad decision making.

I'm still a fan, but he definitely needs to shore up some issues. The biggest issue I saw was lack of fight iQ. He could have spent half the time on his back if he didn't drop for the guillotine like 6 fucking times. Obviously his tdd and grappling need work, but it wouldn't have been as noticeable if he didnt fight like an idiot.

I hope he starts cross training at better gyms.

JDM clearly won that fight. He also cut weight twice in two weeks and we've seen what that does to a fighter in Ferguson in the past. It's also a mixture of expectations, reactionary takes and exaggerations which usually create moments like this.

Yes, he needed to listen to his corner and make better decisions. Yes, he shouldn't have gone for those guillotines after the takedowns and instead tried to get right back up. Maybe he was pressing due to the situation. Maybe he was being reckless trying to finish. He's got room to grow and things to work on.

JDM wasn't even ranked top ten, yet everyone is talking as if he was supposed to be the second coming when he was still needing to prove himself against top competition as they tear him down. Is normal. Is stupid.

He's still got a few years before his prime, too. Plenty of time to develop as a fighter.

This guy was seriously whispering his answers into the microphone. DC looked like he wanted to slap him.

My first time watching JDM.

Rather underwhelming.
Not much sting on his punches. Doesn't appear to have fight ending strikes.
Head/chin exposed when throwing.
Almost no kicking arsenal.
No sprawl.
Little to no groundgame.

Sure. He can improve but as of that fight, he just looks like a tough lad.

3 of 20 takedowns succeeded

17 stuffed
No sprawl?
Second fight to go to decision in his career.. no finishing power?
11 kos of 13 wins in fights.....

Ahhh sherdog. Never change
