JDM will get outclassed. Im saying it first

I'm worried about Islam's cardio more than anything else. JDM can go hard for 5 rounds with non stop pressure. JDM has the edge in striking and if he can stop Islam from getting him to the ground it's gonna be ugly.

I think Islam's fight with Poirier is more concerning than his first fight with Volk. Both fights give me trepidation for Islam. The Burns fight could be said of the same for JDM, but he did fight the last 12 minutes of the fight with a broken arm, which is kind of a miracle he was able to get back up vs Burns let alone finish him.

I can't wait for this fight. I think it will a tense be back-n-forth battle for at least 2 or 3 rounds.
I agree, Poirier is a legend but was past his prime against Islam and gave him a tough fight even if Islam was in control. JDM seems like an upgraded bigger version.

when JDM hits, he hits hard.
totallly agree that Belal somehow was able to get hit all the time and still was in the game.
don't think this will happen to Islam, same amount of punches and Islam gets KO'd
I believe that Islam will not try his chances here and go immediately for TD's

He's going to wrestle immediately. Until they clinch we really don't know what that looks like - JDM is a smallish welterweight and Islam a large lightweight, based on their CSAC published fight night weights after re-hydrating.

My guess is Jack is physically stronger and bigger, but perhaps not such a gap that it'll make clinching with Islam easy to shake. Jack's footwork looked phenomenal against Belal, sure he's planning on leveraging that here.

It really is one of the more fascinating matches we've had in a while.

He broke his arm in round 1 vs Burns.

Only thing that kept Belal in that fight was his chin, he took big punishment for his failed takedown attempts. Also, Belal doesn't spam takedowns like Merab.

I think people overestimate how competitive that fight was due to some fake numbers for significant strikes that showed up on the screen.

We are probably in for a good, competitive fight.
Or maybe we watched the fight and saw that it was very competitive. Saying Belal was only in the fight because of his chin is like saying that Anderson was only successfully because of his reflexes. Partially true, but there's a significant skill aspect that you're downplaying.

Agreed. It's probably going to be competitive.

You’re not the first person to say it. JDM isn’t a world beater, he’s an overachiever. Islam is going to destroy him worse than any of his recent opponents, because at least they had some form of grappling— JDM has none. He’s not even bigger. They’re the same size.

well,I hope he does wrestle immediately. and if he does I don't think it will be easy for JDM to shake him of.
Islam is few levels above Belal and Bassil.
but JDM proved that he has a great defence.
anyway,I am with Islam here but this fight as you said is a fascinating fight in a while

Whether it's true or not. I did not hear it from you first. This is the most common and popular take. Islam is a 3 to 1 favourite and everyone casual and newbie fan is picking him. You are just repeating everyone else's opinion.

JDM will embarrass him.

Man, that has not been my experience with watching JDM. Every time I'm a little more and more surprised with how he keeps winning. I appreciate that he's gritty and pulls wins out when he's going to lose a decision, but that's not a sustainable approach to gameplanning.
This is just incorrect.

When has this happened except against Burns and even that they were 1-1 and Burns was barely ahead on control time in rd3 before JDM got the ko (a few good strikes would have won him this)???

He has gotten better each time. He will easily beat islam.

Islam is slightly chinny, JDM has a chance due to that IMO

I do believe there is a huge disparity in wrestling/grappling ability and there is a chance Islam can smother him or even outclass him

Just enjoy the show sherbros

i think islam will win. he has chosen the right time to move up. in his prime, no rushing and growing into his ww frame. he looks strong and fit, doesnt seem to be giving up that much size (if at all). if his stamina translates well to WW....he will make jdm tired and quit mentally, no matter the footwork or gritt of jdm. there is only so much a non-grappling fighter can do against this kind of high level grappling.

volk is underrated as a a grappler and overrated as a striker. volk has never been truly outgrappled, only lost some exchanges against Islam but still defended well. JDM is not going to keep the fight standing like he did against Belal. Belal is a pressure fighter that tries to overwhelm his opponent by perseverance. Islam is lvls above Belal in grappling technique

edit: of course this is my simple mma math and mma math always works

i think its going to be similar to khamzat vs ddp

islam will take him down but wont have enough to finish him
outpoint

He will easily beat islam?!

Interesting......

My gut tells me JDM gonna shock the world.

Apparently his grappling is really solid according to Volk and Craig jones

I think he’s a more natural striker than Islam and Islam..

I could def be big wrong on this though 😅

I'm not one for excuses but didn't Islam have staph leading up to that fight? I could be remembering wrong though and that was a different fight.

I wasn't impressed with him at all vs Holland, but no question he's leveled up.

I still think he's getting subbed, but JDM is legit now for sure.
