Is the JDM hypetrain dead?

Im just pissed no judges gave round 3 a 10-8.

Also JDM won round 2 and 3, with 3 being a 10-8 imo.

Round 2 Bassil got some top time, but did nothing with it and got tuned up on the feet.
If he didn't get out grappled in the 3rd I see and an argument for a 10-8. But he gave up way to much time being controlled.

What the?
3 of 20 takedowns succeeded

17 stuffed
No sprawl?
Second fight to go to decision in his career.. no finishing power?
11 kos of 13 wins in fights.....

Ahhh sherdog. Never change

I said "my first time watching JDM".

Past stats aren't what I was watching sir.

I just don't know how you came up with bad sprawl when his opponent attempted 20 takedowns and only got 3

There were no 10-8s
Haffez fought back as best he could, even in the third.

He just does the have the athleticism, savagery and problem solving skill to be a top fighter.

After round 1 he had a path to victory by wearing down the opponent, pressuring and not doing silly guillotines.
After round 2 he had a cleary solution. Pressure the bloke, just stuff the takedowns not engage in grappling, bodystrike and boxing pressure against the fence.

Yet he went for another silly sub attempt. He still has that blue belt mentality of trying to show off stuff but he does not have the talent and athleticism to make it work.

I was so frustrated when he had the guy backing up against the cage w strikes. He would hit once or twice to the body where the guy would visibly wince, and not keep throwing body shots. That guy would have clearly crumpled to the body shots. He was like trying to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. The fact he still won shows the talent he has,but man hes got to go back to the drawing board for a bit.

Not dead, but it now has a bit of an asterisk next to it.

Hopefully he learns a lot from that fight moving forward.

Yeah, I think it's obvious that it would look ugly.
I think a D1 wrestler with a bit of bjj and good cardio could beat JDM with no mma training.

Like there's 0 consequences when you fail a takedown against him and he will end up making stupid grappling decision.
Just spam takedowns like in high school.

Now that I think about it Askren would destroy JDM.

It's like if I gave him the answer to a test in advance and he still manage to nearly fail.

The solution was right there in front of him.

Like the dude would sprawl a takedown, and always wind up with the dude on top of him anyway. Like almost pulling the guy on top of him.

I've never been fully on board. He's good but that's it, can't understand the hype he gets and that Jack Jenkins kid is getting the exact same head scratching hype too. Brady would've fucked owned him.

{<jordan}

That's the worst we've seen JDM & it was still a level above what Brady could handle; Brady would've been actually murdered by some of the shots Basil ate

I suppose Brady's relevant af in the "hype train derailed" conversation though
<JackieThumbsUp>

I never said Brady would beat him. I had high hopes for Brady at first but after his recent appearances it's been made clear that he is just not that guy. Too much lacking in his game. I merely commented on what Brady probably was sitting at home thinking.

Poor fight iq but not a robbery, holding someone in place and throwing nothing won’t save you from getting pieced up on the feet and that’s how it should be, but wrestling guys and a weird amount of sherdoggers think control time is the most important aspect of a fight

Could still go on to do big things, this could be his Khabib/Tibau fight.

Of course it could also turn out that he’s got some glaring weaknesses that will get exposed as he fights better fighters.

I think JDM was very worried about the counter punches, Hafez was hurting him with those punches more than people realize imo, JDM just has a really good poker face. Props to Hafeez he posed enough of a threat everywhere for JDM not to be able to establish his game plan.

I truly think the 2 weight cuts hurt him

he looked super slow , drained , lethargic

obviously props to the other guy …. And concerns raised about his iq and grappling …. But he’s never looked that slow - it has to be at least partly due to the 2 weight cuts In 2 weeks ….
