If Gane beats Aspinall, does that solidify Jones’s legacy at heavyweight?

I wouldn’t write Gane off, the guy did fight Ngannou to a extremely close fight.

If Aspinall loses to Gane, does that make Jones’s legacy at HW great?

Gane beating Aspinall has no effect on Jones. He is a completely different style of fighter; MMA Math does not exist.

If anything, it will make Jones look worse because he obviously ducked someone who was clearly very beatable. Probably won't stop Jones from getting a DUI in celebration though

Gane is a terrible fighter and beating him doesn't count, that's what I've heard for the last seven months  Should be EZ for Tom :)
Context matters. If Tom knocks him out on the feet, that's reasonably impressive. If he just hits an immediate double and moves to a submission, that's pretty meh.

I don't think it works that way.

If Aspinall smokes Gane in under a minute. Does that make him better than Jones?

Gane has everything gain while for Tom it's just another title defense.

It works to a high degree most of the time regarding who is better.

For example if Fighter A, lost to fighter B, C and E
And fighter F, beat B, C, and E…

Absent any other information, I’m willing to lay major money that fighter F beats fighter A and I’m willing to bet that statistically it will work out that way 90% of the time.

What if he can’t take Gane down? And Gane defends like 3-4 shots, would that make you think better of Jones’s grappling?

I'm well aware that Jones is one of the best grapplers that we've seen at LHW/HW.
And no. It wouldn't affect my opinion on Jones' grappling any more than Ngannou's.
I would be impressed that Gane worked on his wrestling enough to keep the fight on the feet against a guy who, although briefly, has shown to be a very capable grappler.

If Tom beats Stipe in under 14 and half minutes would that make him better than Jones?

It wouldn't would it?

To further hammer home the point, Gane had been pro for 4 and a half years when Jones beat him. He will be 50% more experienced when Tom could actually face him.

I Had Gane losing his last fight to Volkov. I rather see a rematch between those two before either one would get to fight Apinall. Maybe a card with Blaydes vs Aspinall 3 and Gane vs Volkov 2. Winner fight each other.
