Jones priced himself out of that fight to duck Ngannou. I don’t see how anybody could dispute that. And I believe a LOT of people seriously overestimate how much it will sell. Jones never even sold a million ppv. But without DC he’d routinely sell 600-700K. Ngannou is like a 400-500K guy. And his last fight didn’t do him any favours as far as bringing any new fans.Is this really true though? I'm sure Jon Jones vs Francis would put a lot of money into the UFC's pockets but UFC seems uninterested.
We constantly hear about fighters holding out because of shitty pay. The stars are what brings the money in.
The general consensus has been that the UFC is done building up stars. However, that being said, China is a huge untapped market so it makes sense
And make no mistake. The UFC has bent over backwards for Jones, because he actually did sell more than the average champion.
