Does Weili have Dana White privilege?

Is this really true though? I'm sure Jon Jones vs Francis would put a lot of money into the UFC's pockets but UFC seems uninterested.
We constantly hear about fighters holding out because of shitty pay. The stars are what brings the money in.

The general consensus has been that the UFC is done building up stars. However, that being said, China is a huge untapped market so it makes sense
Jones priced himself out of that fight to duck Ngannou. I don’t see how anybody could dispute that. And I believe a LOT of people seriously overestimate how much it will sell. Jones never even sold a million ppv. But without DC he’d routinely sell 600-700K. Ngannou is like a 400-500K guy. And his last fight didn’t do him any favours as far as bringing any new fans.

And make no mistake. The UFC has bent over backwards for Jones, because he actually did sell more than the average champion.

Jones isn't a PPV star, and Ngannou isn't one yet either. So that's why they were treated like that. Jones never sold over 1 million in PPV. He's high compared to other mma fighters but he isn't hitting over a million like some other UFC fighters. Ngannou can get there if he fights Fury, that would be the fight that gets him recognition past the mma fanbase/community. Jones just never garnered the attention with cross over appeal like other fighters. Also Jones and his coaches were asking for extremely unrealistic numbers. So that also factored in massively for those issues, they obviously priced themselves out on purpose. There is no way they were asking for 30 million and expecting that to ever fly with UFC/Dana.

With Weili they are after the Chinese market, just like with other fighters they are after the market in that region. Khabib is a great example of one of those fighters, Islam and Khamzat is now the focus since Khabib retired.

She does, but who cares? Her fights are entertaining, especially as she continues to improve. Would much rather watch her than boring-ass Shevchenko.

As has been mentioned, her getting an automatic rematch against Rose despite getting knocked out in the 1st round and having her previous fight result in a debatable SD was one of the worst instances of DWP I've ever seen.

However, this isn't the case now. For one, she came within a hair of beating Rose in the rematch, secondly, highlight reel finishes bump you up to the top quicker, and last and most importantly, Dana said that the fight was a #1 contender fight before it happened. Joanna could've won for all he knew at the time.

Btw, the idea that Joanna isn't a top 3-5 talent at SW anymore because she had a layoff is asinine.

There are other fighters that have had more favorable treatment.

Jiri got a TS after 2 wins in the UFC
Chandler got a TS after 1 win
Perriera is about to get a TS with wins over michailidis, Bruno and Strickland

All those guys were champs in major orgs before coming to the UFC.

Islam hasn't been pushed much at all and has been given low profile fights. Khabib for years was said to have been held back by booking.

Khabib became a big star because he fought McGregor after McGregor had fought Floyd. That wasn't some master plan to capture a "region" (what region are we even talking about, the middle east? Russia?).

The UFC doesn't care much about Dagestani fighters. They simply have them there because some of them are really good.

Weili, coming off of back to back title losses, gets a title shot after beating Joanna, who hasn't fought in 2 years?

Has she done enough to warrant a title shot or do you think she needs a few more fights first?

Unfortunately Dana is just like every other CEO of an American company and is desperate for Chinese money

China pays for everything your "greatest country on earth" owe china 1.05 trillion, Dana is no exception.

The only other person is Marina Rodriguez.
And there are other deserving contenders like Marina Rodriguez

Marina has already lost to Carla (July 2020), so I don't see how it can be argued that Marina deserves it more than Weili, who hasn't lost to anybody except Rose.

I don't think Dana wanted Carla to be champion, nor does he want her to stay champion after that stinker of a fight against Rose. So I don't expect him to book an opponent that Carla has already shown she can beat.

It's her Chinese representation privilege card.
