She got the first shot after TKO of Andrade and beating Joanna. No Dana White privilege there. She got a rematch with Rose after getting KO'd. Maybe a little privilege there but Joanna got a rematch with Rose after getting TKO'd also. Not only do I think Weili deserves the fight against Cookie Monster, I think she's a heavy favorite. Also, besides the China market, let's not pretend that Weili doesn't put on exciting fights. She left Joanna for dead in there. It was beautiful.

Marina has already lost to Carla, in 2020, right before Carla beat Yan Xiaonan and Rose. So if Marina fights Carla again it is a rematch after a loss. Weili, on the other hand has never lost to Carla, and in fact she has not lost to anybody at all other than Rose.

Marina didn"t lose to Carla. It was 1 of the 3 controversial decisions in Carla's 5 "win" streak before facing Rose.

Marina has already lost to Carla (July 2020), so I don't see how it can be argued that Marina deserves it more than Weili, who hasn't lost to anybody except Rose.
I don't think Dana wanted Carla to be champion, nor does he want her to stay champion after that stinker of a fight against Rose. So I don't expect him to book an opponent that Carla has already shown she can beat.

The only people who think Weili won the rematch are those who mistakenly believe Weili rocked Rose in the second round. Rewatch the fight. That punch went under Rose's armpit and she slipped on the slippery canvas, like many other fighters did that night. Rose wasn't hurt at all. Actual strikes were 22-12 Rose in that round. It wasn't even close. Rose clearly won rounds 2, 4 and 5, so 48-47 Rose is the correct decision. And that's being generous and giving the first round to Weili.

The division isn't exactly deep and that was a pretty impressive performance. I don't see why she shouldn't be in line next, esp. considering Rose isn't champ and it would be a fresh match up.

Yeah I'd go with the former champ that just retired the divisions goat and rarely ever has a bad match.

As a Weili super fan, I do think that she get's beneficial treatment in terms of being fast tracked to the title.

On the other hand, she's clearly an elite level fighter in a division that is devoid in elite level talent (besides Rose), therefore she might as well get a title shot.

Rose - Carla was so lackluster, hard to market a trilogy for that fight..
