If the fighters don't like it then don't sign the contract

Am I the only 1 that initially read the headline as "Curt Henning reveals..."?

Damn, the fighters are cash cows....

It’s a niche sport that only few choose to take part in.

Basketball/football get the best athletes cause it’s easily accessible n that’s why they get paid a lot.

Mma gets firemen n plumbers. Of course they’re not gotta give them millions if they don’t have to.

Backwards thinking though, you'll only get the talent base that you pay for.

This is probably more true in MMA than any other sport due to it depending so much on fighters transitioning into it.

Hard to really say what it all means in the end since your talking about 20% of revenue. We have zero ideal how much of that 80% left goes into operational cost of the UFC.

It would be interesting to see really what kind of dough is really left over in the end when the dust settles.

P.S.: It won't surprise me one bit if the UFC couldn't afford to pay fighters 35% of the revenue. 25%-28% might be a more realistic number that the UFC could pay fighters.

I would be willing to bet the operating cost is far lower than the NFL beyond players wages, the UFC don't run a stadium, they don't employ coaching staff, etc.

LMAO

Imagine LeBron working at Home Depot to make ends meet...

And this is why streaming should be supported.

All this money is going to Dana's Snowy Las Vegas driveway fund and throwing his kid a fucking $1 million birthday party.

The reality is that the glory years of the UFC didn't help advance the sport, they helped back up the Fertita's casino empire.

Fucking morons who were fans of them and Dana's "Mr McMahon" character over the sport helped ensure it didn't advance as it should have.

They commit to it and either become fighters or don’t. They don’t get paid to see if they like it.

The proof that the UFC is an asshole company isn't that they kick back only 20% of revenue to fighters.

It's that they fuck the fighters on licensing and sponsorship so they can't make money in other ways, unlike other promotions.

20% of a watermelon is only better than 45% of a grape until you realize the guy with the grape can have fried chicken and cornbread too.

after day 3 of the UFC hearings, here's an updated table on comparison of annual revenue for the major US promotions 2009-2016

OMFG so the UFC's NORTH AMERICAN EVENT REVENUE makes up about 94% of MMA revenue when combined with ALL revenue of Bellator, WSOF, and Strikeforce?

Yes, please tell me more about how they pay mOrE pErCeNt Of PrOfIt!!!!!

I agree in principal. In reality, the guys in Bellator make not that much on sponsorship since exposure is so poor.

They make a career choice to switch to MMA and if MMA offers less money and even moreso isn't willing in invest early in new talent then obviously it will attract less talent.

How should it have advanced, compared to what it is now? They have more fighters and cards than ever. They have better tv deals and more stable revenue.

Why would they change their approach when they know idiots will keep buying their ppv n merchandise no matter what?

Irish plumber became their biggest star n one of the most popular athletes in the world.

They don’t need top athletes, just somebody who can sell the product.

They know big majority of their talent is either: adrenaline junkies, toughman contestants, troubled youth, amateur wrestlers with no pro career opportunities after college n average joes chasing dreams of pro sports career.

They know they’re not getting lebrons or Julio Jones type athletes, so why bother?
