Dont forget they get 20% off Reebok gear

If this were retail or some other manufacturing industry where revenue has to be plugged back into manufacturing/goods/services/etc I could understand it being 20%

my labour costs in the last company I worked for were about 15%. Company before that (international company) around 7-9%

But as a sport that is abysmal. Most team big pro team sports in North America hover around 50% of revenue allocated to payroll.

And MMA is far closer to the boxing model, where boxers get more like 80%. But that can be misleading because that's for the champions and top contenders who get paid the huge bank. Still, they would be comparable to the champs and top 10 contenders in the UFC, not the prelim guys Zuffa apologists always pointed to.

Holy shit UFC fanboys are freaking out right now. They’re scrambling to find any reason to justify this.

These reports are the kinda stuff that gives UFC fanboys nightmares. Can’t wait to see the spin job on this one. I already saw the idiot make the watermelon and grape comparison. Lima and Rory are fighting for a $1m. Nobody at WW in the UFC even comes close to a million. Not even half a million.

You’ll take the $3700 and like it.

Just imagine the savings you’ll enjoy with this Reebok coupon.

what?

that 20% of a shit load of revenue is more than 45% of fuck all revenue?

people actually think that 45% is better than 20% in this situation?

we have this thread every week, and every week a bunch of sherdoggers that clearly have not even a basic understanding of finance get all het up and excited.

War bellator. Talk of a union is utter nonsense and anyone who thinks with any form of clarity can see in practice it could and would never happen.

The Ali act being extended to MMA(or something similar) is the only hope for fighters to get paid more and have more flexibility.
It is also the main hope for ruining the sport and driving away mainstream and hardcore fans alike!

How else is the UFC gonna build massive HQ nr. 14 and massive PI’s all over the world?

Everyone knows that Bellator treats it’s fighters better.

Mom and pop shops treat their employees better than big businesses.

Costco pays its employees 20 dollars an hour and Walmart pays minimum wage.

McDonald’s is bigger than any small time burger joint that makes its employees part owners.

WRONG!

Bellator is owned by Viacom. Viacom is worth a lot more than WME.

Go work for a local burger joint. You will NEVER be offered any ownership. McDonalds' employees get a very favorable Stock Purchase Plan. Few take advantage of it because most people who work those jobs are idiots.

Costco and Walmart are both HUGE corporations. You really believe that Costco is a small operation? It is a $100 Billion company!

Where did you get those numbers? I used to work for Costco, you have to work there for 5-7 years to make over $20 hr. Their starting wage is $13/hr. And Walmart's starting wage is $11/hr according to Forbes.

Yes, Mom and Pop shops value their employees more than big business, but they rarely pay anything close to what big business does.

Nope. The Ali Act is utter crap and you can’t just extend it. It also builds a monopolistic model. I deal with competition law in other jurisdictions and you need a union to negotiate, strike and fight.

What were his claims?

EDIT: maybe you're referring to this?
"We pay way more than anybody else in the space, that's a factor. You do have some fighters that maybe aren't happy with what they get, but at the end of the day, the fighters that achieve great things in this sport and get to the level of actually making a career of it, you don't see many of those athletes complaining. That's the fact of the matter."
"The guys who are rising to the top are making the majority of the money."
That is likely true. These are percentages. Strikeforce paid more of its revenue to fighters, but if that revenue was substantially less, then pay was obviously also lower.

Are you not a native English speaker?

Those vegas casino hookers and imported snow don't come cheap.

Are you not a native English speaker?
Nope I’m actually not. English is my 4th language. I know that might be hard for your cheeseburger and hot dog brain to understand. But don’t worry, I’ll speak only English to you. Wouldn’t wanna confuse your pea sized brain any further.

So you think that 45% of Bellators revenue is more than 20% of the UFC's revenue?

And you are calling other people stupid.

The fighters sign the contracts. This is a different discussion if the fighters were better represented as a whole.

Well ya, that was what I was getting at. I haven't found any Lorenzo quotes saying what @KeepItRealist says he said. But I'm still looking.

Regardless of how it all washes out, props to Cung Le for pushing it this far.
