There was never a UFC pay problem with Francis. Francis just wanted the freedom to leave for boxing and simply never come back, exactly as he's done to PFL. The UFC just wasn't dumb enough to fall for it, nor meek enough to roll over if he did try it like PFL is doing.

P.S: it sure as shit was PFL. Ngannou went with them because they were the only ones stupid enough to agree to let him box. Now that they've served their purpose Ngannou happily kicked them to the curb instead of actually fight for them.

And that's completely ignoring that if he'd just fought in the UFC he'd have additionally after Jones (March) fought in October (Fury) and March (Joshua) meaning he'd be on his 3rd fight on his new deal, not 2nd just from boxing. If he'd won Jones and those 2 he'd have made $24M in those 3 fights, more than he's made by leaving and be sitting at $31M.

The money isn't why Francis left. He just doesn't want to compete in MMA any longer. As evidenced by him leaving PFL as well despite all the concessions they gave him.

So all the research this great "self funded study" they claim UFC did (that akwardly isn't even able to show complete UFC data) shows the entire Boxing industry represented by highly estimated numbers for a single Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight. Seems legit.
