Ariel’s details on why Jones vs Tom fell thought

MMA news, or MMA drama?
Brock Lesnar's signing is MMA news, Conor pulling out of the fight w Chandler is MMA news, analyzing Dana White's and Jones's latest statements to paint a clearer picture of what the whole MMA world is talking about is helpful and informational.

Just like all the hookers you patronize!

KIDDING Sherbro. (Although I kinda think you wanted a reply like mine...🤔)

You're not supposed to know about that!

Brock Lesnar's signing is MMA news,

Weasel actually had inside sources all the way back then. I don't trust him in his current, exiled state.

Conor pulling out of the fight w Chandler is MMA news,

Guess it only matters if he got it right in the end, eh? He was adamant it was still on for weeks prior to the official cancellation.

analyzing Dana White's and Jones's latest statements to paint a clearer picture of what the whole MMA world is talking about is helpful and informational.

Speculation and opining.

Fair. I’m not denying that it happened - it’s on his record, of course.

Everyone alive knows what it is though. He didn’t lose that fight lol
Yeah, there are some fools on here who try to dance around the truth with little technicalities like that. What I said is a good way to cut through the bullshit. Claiming it “wasn’t a loss” is what they want you to say.

I actually tried to go back and find those tweets one time but didn't find them. I'm sure they're all deleted since he basically got humiliated by Dana who threw him under the bus pretty hard. Anyhow, this is what happened in the correct chronological order and if YOU think it's incorrect, YOU go find the tweets.

1. Ngannou windmills Rozenstruik basically to death in the cage. It looks like a fatality.

2. LHW Jones has been watching the fight and immediately pipes up on Twitter without thinking, 'is this the best HW has?'

3. Frank is amused and responds, 'let's meet in the cage and you can find out for yourself'

4. Jones immediately realizes he's stepped in it and falls silent but it's too late to put the toothpaste back in the tube. All of a sudden everyone in the mma-verse thinks the fight is a brilliant idea including Dana White who sets about trying to make it in earnest.

5. The heat is on Jones now and everyone is asking him when the fight is going to happen. He needs to think of some way out of it fast. Finally he tweets, yeah, I'll fight Ngannou, I'll talk to Dana.

6. Dana is overjoyed until he realizes Jones has devised a scheme to save face by pricing himself out of the fight, asking for 30 million dollars to fight Frank. Dana is appalled and instigates a Twitter war with Jones saying Jones is scared of Ngannou, he asked for Deontay Wilder money, he's not serious, etc.

7. Jones is furious that Dana didn't have his back in his little plot to cancel the check that his mouth wrote and goes nuclear, tweeting that in fact he was DONE with Dana, the UFC, everything and was dropping his belt and he quit! And everyone would be sorry now that he was gone!

8. That settled that for the time being and it wasn't until a little while later that he had second thoughts about his rash behavior. So he got back on Twitter and was like, 'Hey guys, I didn't quit, you know why I dropped the belt? Because I'M MOVING TO HEAVYWEIGHT!!! That's right, I'm going to take my time and do it properly. (Three years later... Lol)

Anyway, that's exactly how it happened, I'm a Jonesologist so I know my stuff but if you want to take exception to the facts, that would be your right to do so.
You’ve got to be one of the biggest ramblers on this server. Like I said earlier, none of this is Jones “kicking and screaming” as the UFC strips him of his title, like you claimed to be the case earlier.

Ok, I answered every question you had in detail and your response is 'rambler' because I took the time to address your BS? That's why people like you don't last. You have nothing to say

If ducking one fight is enough to burn someone's legacy in your mind, you never really thought they had a legacy to begin with.

I am only looking at it through the perspective of most mma fans and how they interpret Jon and his legacy in the present and the last 5-8 years. In addition, how fans perceive and interpret other fighters and legacies. Keep in mind I said it will burn his legacy, but not completely, but just put a dark cloud over it. It doesn't mean fans won't think he's the best to ever do it, but it will put a cloud over it.

The thing with Jon is that he's a fighter who has a lot of fans, but he's got more people that don't like him. Jon's had several things that already are hurting his legacy, so it's not just ducking one fight. 3 positive PED tests and for a few years issues with all that. He's been stripped a few times. He's been criticized for fighting lower tier competition and having fights he nearly lost and some say he did. That Stipe fight didnt' do him any favors either. Then you hava all the stuff outside the sport like the car crashes and assualts. So you can see how Jon already has a few things that taint his legacy. So ducking Tom is going to further perpetuate his legacy being tainted.

MMA fans and media over the years have proven to be quite critical of certain fighters, particularly towards the end of careers and how their legacies get affected. Even fighters like GSP and Fedor get shit. GSP for not fight Hendricks again and nearly losing that and then onl moving up when Bisping was champ and then giving up the belt. Fedor for supposedly avoiding the UFC. Khabib gets constant criticisim for retired early and most fans take him off any goat lists. So considering all that, you can see how fans will perceive Jon's legacy and how it will take a hit. Fans and media have been crircal of beloeved fighters, how will they treat a guy who's not liked very much??

This Tom thing is going to be the last thing people remember. It's gonna hurt his legacy pretty bad IMO. Especially if Tom continues to win and builds his own great legacy. I wiil for the time being consider Jon the greatest of all time. But I am just looking at it from the other perspective.

Too bad a helluva lot of people will just remember him ducking Aspinall if he does. And he won't have the belt long either way. He either fights Aspinall and gets KO'd, or he gets stripped and people believe he was scared of Aspinall all along. Not a happy ending for Jonny.

And it's too bad because his LHW run was actually legendary. The route he's taken has a lot of people forgetting how great he used to be.

MMA fans give fighters like Khabib, GSP and Fedor a hard time for certain things towards the end of their careers. And these are very liked fighters, imagine the heat Jon will get considering he's not exactly a fan fav. And it's only going to get worse it Tom keeps winning and builds a big legacy of his own.

You didn’t. I don’t see any Tweets of Jones kicking and screaming as the UFC strips him of his title.

Haters didn’t get to see him lose , so they’re soooooo desperate to discredit his greatness

Jon can retire anytime he wants

Goat Status = confirmed

Literally every fighter can "retire whenever they want".

Being invested more in a fighter's so called "legacy" than in actually seeing the best fights...as a fan that just perplexes me. Like...for Jones himself I get it. But here? Us as fans? Weird.

Cool. I'm a fan of different guys too but I've always thought it bizarre when people try to explain why "their guy" shouldn't fight someone. Like...you're a fan because you like watching them fight, right? If it's a case where they've clearly earned a title shot or something and turn down someone else...okay. Otherwise, get 'em in there fighting!

100%

It's very strange fan girl behaviour

Have shunned AH for a long time. But was looking for solid mma news coverage, not clickbait youtube garbage so tuned back in.

His rant about the UFC HW title is spot on. The UFC has allowed JJ to make a mockery of the title. The UFC belives they can take over boxing? With this farce carrying on at a snail's pace, good luck.

Leave it to MMA fans to take, what a black-balled journalist says— about what should be confidential information— as fact.
What exactly was confidential? I can respect a journalist who doesn't suck dick.
