Those dumps/trips/throws were from the Muay Thai clinch. Alex is a great striker so it doesn't surprise me that he has some nice moves from the clinch. It was still impressive to do against a guy from Dagestan, who has surely dabbled in wrestling, sambo, and judo from a young age. It was still impressive but those were not full on takedowns. They were trips from the MT clinch and Alex is a master striker. Still really cool to see Alex has that in his arsenal. Would have loved to see Alex in PRIDE ruleset where he could stomp or soccer kick after dumping someone to the ground or dropping them. And don’t even get me started on the time Alex Pereira, a guy who literally has a single wrestling move in his entire arsenal, took him down like he was a toddler. If Ankalaev is supposed to be some kind of dominant force in the light heavyweight division, getting ragdolled by a guy whose grappling skills barely register on the radar is just embarrassing.
